Its a joke tournament anyway.. it's a fake WC .. conjured up as a ridiculous marketing campaign for the NHL.. the main focus of which is to put team USA front and center on the big media stage .. to generate some USA advertising and sales of NHL broadcast rights domestically ..
I can hear it now.. a chorus of "USA.. USA.. USA " ringing through a NBC TV broadcast.. Gary's wet dream..
He won't pull the plug.. the NHL has denied him the opportunity for Olympics for 10 years, so he'll still go..
.. but he could definitely boycott future all-star games and NHL awards.. and all the NHL promo work he does he should stop doing.. ESPN wants an interview? no thanks bud.. go talk to the opposition teams 4th liner.. the NHL has repeatedly indicated that it values them as much, or even more..

And the league is such an old boys club, you dare not make such a bold statement with the Olympics looming. Although it's not an NHL event, the Olympic committee is made of NHL brass who all bow to the knee.
One would like to think the politics in hockey would end after bantam.
