I'd love to see a few stars around the league actually comment on it - say that that Garland play was clearly a penalty and that the refs could have controlled it by not letting that happen. I'd like to see some of the more influential media guys actually take a strong opinion on it too - say that the league needs to do a better job calling the rule book and that there shouldn't be times of the game or the season where it goes out the window.
This is a persistent problem because everyone just says "the refs have a tough job" and "George Parros has a tough job" and then just moves on to the next one.
It's bullcrap. It should be called out. As long as it isn't then the NHL assumes they're doing the right thing. And if it's just the Edmonton media mooning around a little, that's not helpful because it gets dismissed as homerism.
