The face off thing is entirely a power trip/game by the referees/league to remind players that they are playing under their rules. No one gives a crap, we tune in for the players. Not the referees or the league.

Regarding faceoffs.. I'd like for ONCE that some TV broadcast colour guy would stop and replay a guy getting thrown out of a face circle and explain EXACTLY why that happened.. I've never seen it done.. and its happens 20 times a game.. you'd think someone would make an attempt once in awhile. Personally I think the task would likely be futile, I don't think there is a clear reason for most of them, how do you tell the TV audience that ".. hmmm.. couldn't see an infraction there.. just the linesman showing the player who's the boss..".

Put referees names back on their jerseys. Don't let them be anonymous.
Same with suspension calls, make Soros or whoever step in front of media/fans and explain it face to face.
