You can see from the ice time last night that the Oilers coaching staff, while they wanted the win, were making sure not to take a lot of risks. No Oilers forward reached 19 minutes of icetime - the team leader up front was Ryan McLeod with 18:03. On the blueline, the highest (Nurse 21:11) and lowest (Desharnais 17:46) isn't a big spread either and that's with Desharnais getting shaken up in the first.
We also saw a lot more icetime for the second powerplay unit - almost half of each PP (other than the one Draisaitl scored on). McDavid and Draisaitl barely touched the ice on the penalty kill too.
This was a game where the key was caution and the team still won it handily, so that's great news. Hopefully we can keep our streak going next week...I'm expecting to be outraged in game one with the Kings goon tactics by the 10 minute mark of the first period of Game One.
