I can't really find a lot of fault in anyone at all. A few mistakes to give up a few great chances to the Canucks to clean up but Smith was there when called upon. Demko made some fantastic stops. What I love is the team continues to win in different ways.

They can win in a defensive struggles. They can win by scoring a ton of goals, they can win by coming back. They won last night with superior special teams and great goaltending.

Smith was fantastic last night and clearly Tippett made the right call in goal though I think Koskinen would have came in and been good as well. Right now he's turning back the clock. As a guy a little over 40, I want whatever he is drinking. icon_lol I don't expect him to keep this up for the whole year but for now, he's on a hot streak which is awesome.

I have to give a shout out to Khaira as I bang on him a lot. I don't know what happened to him when he got put on the taxi squad for the second or 3rd time, I can't remember how many times but since being back, who the hell is this guy? He's been really, really good. He dangled between a couple of Canucks shorthanded and almost scored. Got a break away. He's playing hard, getting in on the forecheck, his line is great and I have always believed a line can only truly go if the center is going. He generates offense, the coach when they need a stop defensive just put his line out there without hesitation and they get the job done. He's money on the PK. To top it off. He was 54 and 63% on faceoffs!! If this is the Khaira moving forward which I don't see why it can't be, they have a legit, reliable, bottom 6 forward here. Great to see.

Big show down with the Leafs.

Re: Khaira, if I'm being honest I thought he might have been done as an Oiler. He had a fantastic game last night. Glad he's playing well, and he's also a rare Oiler that can tangle with another guy if needed, which still has importance.

I felt the same way. I thought after he went in and then got put back on the taxi again I thought that was it for him. We would just see him finish the year on the taxi only getting in if the injuries piled up. For 3 years in a row he showed flashes for a couple of games, people would get excited then it was back to being disengaged and inconsistent. I am not prepared yet to fully buy in to him because like I said, he's shown flashes before but all he has to do is just put in a consistent effort. He's not being asked to play in the top 6, he's just being asked to be a solid, bottom 6 guy who comes to the rink every game and gives you what he has. Nothing about that is beyond his capabilities so hopefully he's finally figured that part out.

Do you think the taxi squad itself might be the motivator? Normal seasons with only 23 players on the squad if you sit for a few, you'll get another chance quite quickly or you are sent down and get some game time. With the taxi squad you are just doing nothing, you've got to prove yourself during practice constantly to get back into the main squad and have no game time what so ever. Could it be that Khaira knew that he had to look at himself, go and prove himself once more and has done so?

It must be, at least it is for the Oilers. If you look at the guys that spent time on it, they all come out looking pretty good and extremely motivated. Chiasson spent time on it and since coming back he's been good. 7 pts in 16 games. He's got 2 goals on the PP, 2 5 on 5. 3 pts from the PP, 4 5 on 5. For a 4th liner, that is great production. Khaira, since coming back has been great. Jones granted in limited minutes has look good. Bouchard has looked good.
