Stu helped the Jets not worry about goaltending anymore. Took a pretty weak deal for a Vezina quality goalie.

I don’t know any of those names except old man Nick…yikes for Winnipeg. I’d have held onto him longer to get a better return. League owners pay guys all the time to not play via buyout.
Clean house or bust

Jersey has 2 1st round picks next draft and their 1st rounders for future drafts. Surprised the jet's couldn't just get 1 of those from them for Helle. Best pick is a 2nd in 2029??

A bunch of spare parts for a perennial Vezina contender? Wow.
Bjugstad is a throw in. Daws is fodder. A 7th round pick and a 2nd in 3 years can’t be worth all that much.
Mercer however is a decent enough player, but RFA at the end of the year. And that Command kid could be a player I suppose, but a really underwhelming return imo

Alexander Command was NJ's first round pick last season (12th overall), so the option was probably to take him or get the 1st rounder for this season, which might end up as a later 1st rounder if NJ does well. I am guessing that is why the Jets took him instead of betting on the Devils being a poorer team with a better goalie.

Brady Tkachuk got three firsts and a second. I would think that a Vezina winner, Hart winner, and elite player at a scarcity position should return at least that much, possibly more.
Bjugstad is basically cap balance, Mercer is fine, but not really special. Command is a good piece, but not enough of a return at all.
Not really expecting the Devils to give up core guys like Bratt, Meier, Luke Hughes, or Hamilton, but there are enough young prospects in the Devils system I would have expected more.
I would have demanded Yegorov be part of the deal. Something more along the lines of Yegorov, Silayev/Command, and Gritsyuk/Mercer would be what I would have hoped to see for the Jets. So maybe not too far off, but Yegorov vs. Daws is significant.

I dislike how the media and fans say you must trade a player because he wants out..
If he's signed for a number and term on his contract, doesn't report to camp, then he sits and we move on.. if he wants back let him but in that uniform.
Too many players are weaponizing their NMC's to pick their landing spots. When you are a UFA sure go wherever, but you got term and you no longer like it.. discretely ask for a trade and sure go to the media but you're staying in that uniform until the team let's you go.
They didn't have to move him and he may have been a distraction but for what they got for Halle was small and make the team trade at the point of weakness.
These are your choices if you are a player who wants out with term on their deal:
The player can sit out - fine no pay
The player can play to the best of their ability until a deal comes around.
The player can purposely suck but they would hurt themselves
The player can shut up and provide his list if no deal can be had, wait.
As soon as the player starts making loud waves to weaken the teams ability to get value, he should suffer in kind.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

I think the no trade clauses should be changed so that if the player requests a trade it's voided.

Seems Larkin has been emboldened by Helle getting his way with the Jets

Keeping your NTC/NMC but refusing to play for the team your contract says you are locked into. Seems like there needs to be a new rule about losing your trade protection if you are refusing to play/demanding a trade.
