McDrai 5 points a piece casually too :)

That was a crazy game.

Levi won't be happy with the sav%, but he had to make so many huge saves to salvage this game.

Not often I’m impressed by a 5GA/.815% performance, but I don’t think I really fault him for a single one of those. On top of that, another 3-4 absolute robberies from point blank.

I think we gave up more grade A chances tonight that the whole year combined. Shades of last year. Part of it of course is being up against a very good team, but a bunch of brain farts creeping back in. Assuming Babcock won’t be happy with parts of that game.

And McDavid. Wow. Does he hit 100 points before Christmas? What a crazy start.

If this is a preview of the SCF, I will need heart pills. This was a crazy ass game.

That was a roller coaster.

Be nice to see some scoring from someone other than the best two players on the planet.

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli

#LetsGoOilers Connor McDavid has now matched Wayne Gretzky’s best 10-game start to a 200-point season.

1984-85 Gretzky 11-19–30
2026-27 McDavid 7-23–30

Gretzky had four career 200-point seasons (only one to do it). Other three starts he had 25, 24 and 17 through 10 GP.

broke that one with 31 points now

and:

[I][Jason Gregor @JasonGregor

McDavid has also set the record for most assists in the first 10 games of a season. Mario Lemieux had 21 in 1989/1990.

McDavid has 23./I]

We are watching something truly insane right now

If that was the acid test this team needed, we passed it, but only just. The Canes filled up the neutral zone so well for large parts of the game it was like a modern version of the trap, and it's effective. However, the fight and grit by the Oilers on the D is a marked improvement on previous years and yeah we gave up goals, but none were cheap goals.

The plaudits will go to Drai and McDavid, but what a performance from Nuge on his return. Two points and the winning goal in the shoot out. He'll soon become the player with most Oilers games, so where he ends up in terms of status upon retirement I don't know but he's been some Oiler for sure.

Top 3 scorers in the league.

Mcdavid
Draisaitl
Bouchard

that's absurd. I wonder when was the last time that happened 10 games in. I'm assuming 80s Oilers.

Whats more likely - Mcdavid 200 points or Draisaitl 50g in 50 games?

My only hope for this team moving forward is health. If they can avoid major injuries to their big 3 they are going to be tough to beat.

I had no idea we lost 6 shootouts in a row before last night. Derek Ryan on Dec 30th, 2023 was our winning goal in our last shootout win. I guess just got used to the idea we would never get a big save again in a shootout.

I knew it had been a while but nearly 3 years? That is a crazy long stretch.
