It's always nice when your goalie steals one.

"We need to get better immediately. That starts today"
- Lowe, 2013
"Next year I would forecast as another developmental year"
- MacT, 2015
5 x $5,000,000

Kings franchise record
Dustin Nielson @nielsonTSN1260
First time in 29 years that the Kings go winless in their first five.

Oilers record as per LA comms team, first time we've ever gone 4 wins on the road to start a season.
Much like the previous game, grab the lead shut them down and lets conserve some energy moving forward. Rightly the focus of praise will be on McDavid and the first line as well as Levi, but I really liked Joseph's game tonight, doing everything right and winning battles and niggling away.
Take me home, country road
to the place where I belong
to Alberta, to see the Oilers
take me home, country road

At the risk of getting way ahead of myself, is Levi the best goalie McDavid has ever had? My god he looks good right now. Good positioning, great reflexes, amazing speed, and it’s not like this is some undrafted nobody we found in the dumpster. This guy was an absolutely elite junior player. A star in the NCAA. And not too long ago the most highly touted goalie prospect in hockey. Maybe we get to finally have some league average goaltending, if not elite. At only 24 years old, it is certainly not out of the question.
Taking out the Vancouver game, he has a .956 save% and a 1.33GAA. 😮
I know it’s only 4 games, but this has to be the most excited I’ve been about a goalie in 20 years when we got Roloson.

I’m trying not to get too excited either, but he is looking amazing. Has everything. Good lateral skills, fast, flexible. Guy reminds me of Shasty from the Rangers. A bit on the smaller side. Just over 6 feet tall, but makes up for it with extreme athleticism

What I recall about that time was Roloson was considered an upgrade, but the bar was SO VERY LOW to clear it wasn't saying a whole lot. It's not like we'd just gotten a vezina finalist. We had Markkanen and Conklin, for crying out loud. People were excited because he was considered a decent goalie, basically someone you wouldn't be embarrassed to say was your team's goalie. I don't recall anyone expecting him to go on the run he went on during the playoffs.
Maybe I'm misremembering but I don't recall being all that excited WHEN we got Roloson.
But actually, I think we have had about the same level of expectations for Levi over this offseason as we had for Roloson... if Levi can turn in a Roloson-like performance this season, it will be a Very. Good. Year.

Good win.
Levi looks to be a player. However I will not put the cart before the horse just yet and just sit back to see this action and be pleasantly surprised.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.
