I'm guessing his list is something like Florida, Tampa, Vegas and maybe a couple other USA teams.
Team USA at the olympics seems to have been 90% guys in the locker-room talking about how all guys on Canadian teams need to play on USA teams, and 10% letting Helly steal games for the gold.

I think the set of national pride came into the room when they won the gold. Tired of being beat by Canada time and again, and they finally win one.
USA hockey is very good, and their program has a chance to eclipse our own if we don't check out back.
The boys probably thought, USA hockey is better and we should keep our talents here.. national pride time of smush.
Brady and now Halle seem to have bought into it.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

Jets are saying they are not getting any good offers from the teams Helle would take a trade to.
Dreger is suggesting Helle will not report for training camp.
I hope they made him sit out until he opens up that list to include the oilers :)

Jets aren't going to do Helle any favors it looks like. Good. Wonder if they can get out of paying him too. I believe Helle's contract can just shift a year ahead too if he refuses to report all year.

Twenty years ago I thought the Oilers should have done the same thing with Pronger. Deny his trade request, and suspend him if/when he doesn't show up for camp and wait him out.
Wonder if they had been more hard ass, if things would have been better or worse in the long run. Considering the next ten years, it could hardly have gone worse.

I think Lowe was quoted very recently about how he wishes he made Pronger just sit and let the heat die down. I would guess Lowe was just super overconfident in himself and that everything he touched would keep turning into gold because of his winning pedigree. He probably didn't think it was that big a deal to lose Pronger. Just needed to keep using his inherent Lowe winning powers to quickly build things back up to a contender.
Chevy in Winnipeg though. He knows Helle is THE piece to keep his team competitive for the foreseeable future. Either by Helle playing, or by getting something very good in return for him. One of those 2 things don't happen, the outcome is basically the same with any other action. Jets are going to struggle a lot.

Hard to say the best option at that stage. I mean, they tried to be real hardasses about Souray a couple years later and that was a total disaster. They ended up having to buy out his last year and watch him leave for nothing.
Now, he had had significant injuries and wound down his career soon after, but at the time of his banishment he was only a year removed from a 53 point campaign. Oilers may have been better off dealing him (certainly would have been better off treating him in a way that didn't make him feel he needed to go to Mark Spector to complain about the way they deal with players!)
Tough situation for Winnipeg fans. He's not going to get them anywhere close to what they probably should be able to get for a guy with his profile. I'm not sure sitting him out for a few weeks or months is going to improve that return. I imagine they're trying to convince him to come back still and work together towards getting something done, but it's a tough situation all around.
Interesting that Larkin is reporting to camp, although injured.
