Wow.. crazy.. thats a dizzy 180 in a team's potential .. I was thinking last playoffs with all these young recent draft picks Anaheim had it was looking like the Ducks were going to be solid contenders for a few years.. didn't even last past season one after making the playoffs..

This past season's Ducks was basically just us in 2017. A young up and coming team that had a great year, but then a poor off season that will likely lead to a couple years of pain before they can start improving again.

NHL teams have until tomorrow at 11:59 p.m. to sign players before the new CBA rules take effect. That includes the elimination of eight-year contracts, but also a reduced ability to front-load the payment structure -- which makes it a meaningful deadline to get business done.
Maybe the Gauthier deal gets done in the next 2 days. Can't wait to laugh.

Horcoff named interim GM of the red wings. Seemed inevitable that Horc would climb the management ladder. Surprised Katz never tried to poach him. Or maybe he did and Horc didn’t want to be part of the Lowe/Bobby Burgers gang.

Batherson gets 10.75M x 8 at 28 years old as a career 60-70 point guy (he did finally crack 30 goals this past season with perfect timing for a new deal)
Ryan Leonard gets 10.5M x 8 for a 20-25-45 season at 21
Yikes. Savoie could really cash in next summer if he takes another step and manages 30 goals this season.

All these contracts are getting insane again. I think eventually every team is going to be a team of 4 $10-15M guys while everyone else scrambles for what is left.
