I'm already sick of hearing about this guy. Maybe the most over hyped player in the history of the NHL.

Apparently he is now talking about how he "left money on the table" for SJ.

Am I the only one who knows that he hasn't played a single game in the playoffs yet? He's "the next one" because of once nice regular season? Sure.

I think he's top tier elite, borderline generational type of player. 115 points on such a crap team is nuts. That team was going for 1st OA again without him.

He's like the forward version of Makar. Just has infinite energy and is just skating at the puck all night every night, with good skills to compliment. Not quite McDavid tier stick handling and vision, but the infinite gas he has in the tank and refusal to quit lets him just keep getting into the middle of every situation.

Zero (Zero) playoff games and he's ranked ahead of one of the greatest playoff performer in the history of the game and is the second highest paid player in the league (despite leaving all that money on the table).

He might be a great player one day who knows. Lots of things can happen and if the conversation is about potential 5 or 6 years down the road sure. But one nice regular season on a garbage team doesn't put him in the same conversation as some of the names he is routinely mentioned with all of a sudden (since the olympics). Let's see him hold up through a long playoff run and deliver. Or two or three.

Like I said, most overhyped player in NHL history.

People say similar stuff about McDavid still. No Olympic gold. Bad point totals in finals elimination games (even though Crosby won cups doing very little in the finals 3 times and won because of depth and goaltending). No OHL championship, etc...

Still a team sport, for young guys that have never had a good team, or even a mediocre support cast in Celebrini's case, you have to just make judgements of what they have done in tough situations. Celebrini had an insane season last year, nearly dragged a trash team into the playoffs. I'd also say he was the most consistent player on our Olympic squad. it's too bad MacKinnon, Makar and McDavid were so busy trying to 1 man hero everything and Cooper kept letting them do it and let the rest of the team take a back seat. Celebrini set up MacKinnon for a wide open net goal that would have won gold ... sigh.

Gotta see how Celebrini does this year. Can he follow up last season, or will being a 1-man team start to wear on him? Or that he already got his crazy payday. Guess we will see, but so far, guy is IMO taking the closest to generational label of this current generation handily away from Bedard.

There is a reason McDavid was the MVP of the Olympic tournament - Celebrini does no where near as much if he wasn't playing with McDavid in Italy. Celebrini is very, very good - excellent hockey IQ as some call it. But I agree with a comment above that he is overhyped. He is no where near the players that MacKinnon and McDavid are at this point.
