Mintyukov brought the threat of offersheets to the table with Verbeek and got a 7.4M x 5 deal. Beautiful. Guy struggled hard in the playoffs and finished on the third pair, but he still gets high end 2nd pair money.
Ducks rebuild turning into a disaster after a fortunate season and one playoff round win.
They had ~40M of space. Signed a 4th liner, just signed a guy that was playing 3rd pair, and including The Carlsson offersheet, they only have 10M left now and still have to extend Gauthier.
Had one of the worst performing goalies of the playoffs. Their D group is in shambles now. You love to see it.

Also gave up a 1st and 3rd to watch the other Carlson leave to TB. Ducks went from a force to be reckoned with to a scrambling team just trying to hold the fort together.

Thats so true, after watching them in the playoffs with Carson and Senneke, Gautheir, McTavish.. Lacombe.. I was thinking these guys would be a force for years.. youth and talent .. that offer sheet thing is going to screw a lot of franchises.. the compensation in picks isn't enough for some of this talent.. the max. should be expanded.. for 18M you should get more than 4 picks.. the salaries have gone past what the CBA could have imagined.. now 20% of roster cap allowance.. 20% should be 5 or 6 1sts..

I hear what you are saying, but even giving 4 firsts is a pipeline killer. I think anything more would eliminate the threat except for players who are semi generational talents. I think teams just need to tidy up their business before the OS threats come around. We’d still have Holloway ….. Broberg was destined for an OS.

I'd be really curious to see what plan the Ducks would have with those 4 1st overall picks. In EA Sports you could probably make some sweet trades and replace Carlsson's contributions easily using a could 1st round picks in a couple trades to get 2 very good players. In reality though, probably much harder, especially with those picks expected to be late. Still, I'd love to see a team try to do it. Since it's the Ducks, I would hope they fail and end up with some headcases like Pettersson out of Vancouver and it puts a big halt on what they were building.
