This is more than I thought we'd get for Darnell, with no retention, it's a bonus.

Good stuff. I’ll start this off by saying I will not miss Nurse, but to be fair, a great teammate, Oilers first mentality (rare), durable and better than people gave him credit for. Everyone is married to the contract, which is fair, but not his fault.
Best of luck to Darnell, and a little shout out to Nepo baby Bowman. Good work today.

Are we all agreeing right now that Walman is the new whipping boy?

If he shows up to camp out of shape, 100%.
We have a backup though in case Walman does have a good off-season and plays like he can.

And of course goaltending still a big mystery.

I got started on that last season.. he looked awful all year.. fat, out of shape, and slow.. everyone had much higher expectations of him
There were excuses made by media that he must have an injury.. but there was never any real acknowledgment or confirmation by anyone it was the case..
Even if he had some injury issues last year, there should be no excuse this season.. if he shows up this season with the same level of fitness and skating.. then Bowman should start looking at a replacement.. that 8x7M NMC contract Bowman signed him to still hangs over the franchise..

k, the fact he shed 9.25 salary with NO retention, it's nothing short of a miracle and they got a player back. Certainly not the same calibre as Nurse, but no boat anchor of a contract. Bowman didn't blunder and he has made me eat crow. (It's pretty good with sea salt).
What makes this even more the right move is the arrogance? (Is that the right word) but the perceived arrogance of that video call, he said all the right things about moving to San Jose but clearly he isn't happy about it and seemed so underwhelmed.. maybe it's me.
If that's the arrogance he has, maybe the whole room as that attitude.. and maybe that's the stuff that needs to break and Babcuck (spelling intended) may be the one to break it, or it just gets worse?!
Anyways thrilled we dumped salary and I heard by the trade deadline, the Oilers might have as much as 30 million in cap space at trade deadline (not sure how that works)
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.
