Oilers sign Freddy Anderson for 1 x 1M

We have $6.4M left ..

All these "$1M" contracts signed today might have bonus clauses.. which will reduce our current cap... wait and see..

Think it might be 1M and 1.8M of bonuses.

He can be good when healthy. Just been injury prone most of his career. Jarry injury prone too. Might be a strange year in net next season.

Extra contract details:

PuckPedia
@PuckPedia

The #LetsGoOilers signed 36 y/o G Freddie Andersen to 1 year deal

Salary $1M
Perf Bonuses $1.8M: $600K @ 10GP, 400K @ 20GP, $200K for each playoff round won where he plays 50% of games)

Cap Hit $1M, AAV $2.8M

So at least 2M if he plays 20 games. And hopefully he gets the full 2.8M!

Not sure how I feel about this. His save percentage was really down last year and he gets hurt a lot. If he stays healthy, he can be solid. Maybe Jarry is going to get dealt and then we will get more defenseman. It looks like we are really going in to build up the defense, and then hopefully even an average goalie can play decent for us. Anderson can play great though too

So this could be like a Mike Smith 2.0 signing? If the defence can hold and he can stay healthy for 40 ganes and playoffs then this would be a great signing. At only one year I th8nk this is the best case we could really ask for.

Well said. Hope for the best

With that said I still liked Ingram. But it is what it is

Really wish Ingram had a better first round. We obviously didn’t help him much but there was still just something missing in his game. Maybe he gets his old game back when he was playing confident before his mental health issues, but probably risky to gamble on him again

Much smarter to gamble on 2 guys with extensive injury issues and a guy that hasn’t done a thing in the NHL aside from disasters that is still riding hype from his junior days icon_lol

Sigh. Our goaltending is going to the interesting again this year.

Agreed. That is what hurt him big time. That entire series unfortunately was just a mess from top to bottom. I don’t know if there was a goalie alive (other than maybe Shasterskin) that could have got us through that series. With that said… Anderson has a ton of playoff experience and if healthy he can play some very good hockey. His numbers last year weren’t very good, so it will be interesting to see how he rebounds

Levi will play a big role next year. Jarry and Andersen are fragile. Going to be a 3 headed monster.
