He reminds me a bit of Erik Gustafsson in 2019 with the Blackhawks. Had a big breakout year while he also got to quarterback the powerplay, but never reached that level again (but did have a couple other decent years). The difference is that Gustafsson was 26 when he had his big year, but Raddysh was 29. So the Maple Leafs are going to be paying him $9.5M throughout his 30s. That is honestly pretty insane.

I had accidently had typed in 9.5M.. but its actually 8.5M x 8 .. still a reach at 30 yo..

That was a good comparison with Gustafson.. but as you say he was only 26

Apparently Raddysh has some trade protection in the contract.. not available yet..

Leafs probably feeling the pressure to make a splash to convince fans next season isn't going to be a lame McKenna development year.

That's a bit risky for a guy that had his first breakout season at 30, passing to the Hart winner all night, coached by the Jack Adams winner and backstopped by the Vezina winner. None of that good stuff in Toronto.

I get the desperation from the Pelley/ChatGPT perspective though.

Wonder if they go hard for Tuch too. Another 30+ guy looking for a huge payday.

Florida pulling off a blockbuster trading 3 1sts and a 2nd for Brady Tkachuk. Steep price, but worth it for them.

For sure. What the double male hockeysticks is Ottawa thinking? Why do they hate us?

I pity Brady having to carry Turtles weight as a d-bag.. Panthers will be off-scale on the douche meter

Panthers have $7M left and no goalie.. only 13 forwards + 6 D signed.. 19 players total.. more moves likely.

Good move by Ottawa. He was obviously not staying there so might as well get in front of it. Looks like they are getting a pretty nice return for a 60 pt grinder.

The bigger point here is that Canadian teams need to be extremely careful about investing in American players going forward. This is not going to stop happening anytime soon.

fLames made a big trade. The really wanted Nemec. Former 2nd overall pick in 2022, right handed D. Guess a young replacement for Anderssen. Seems like Nemec wants a big payday, and he's still pretty unproven. Hopefully this all goes horribly wrong for the Lames :)

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli

Trade details:

To #Flames:
RD Simon Nemec (RFA)
RW Maxim Tsyplakov

To #njdevils:
2027 VGK 1st Round Pick
2028 COL 1st Round Pick
2026 NYR 2nd Round Pick (No. 35 ov)
LD Etienne Morin

Blues trade Kyrou to the Caps. Lesser player in McMichael (although didn't perform much worse than Kyrou this season) and 16th OA pick this year and a young prospect.

RW Jordan Kyrou

To #stlblues:
LW Connor McMichael (RFA)
2026 WSH 1st Round Pick (No. 16 overall)

I was interested in Tuch, but damn, Washington gave him 8 x 10.5M. Not in our price range.

Caps seem scared to lose fans, going hard this summer adding Tuch and Kyrou. Both solid 2-way wingers.

Yeah both Tuch and Kyrou are good players, would've been great adds.
I think Tuch's 10.5 shows we will not be shopping in the UFA market.. our best bet IMO is making a trade to get a bubbling talent that already has a workable contract.. use those "advanced" analytics we are supposed to have now :)

Jason Robertson just shut down a sign and trade for 8x15 from Seattle. Decent support player but in the same stratosphere as other elite forwards making less.

The cap is very likely going to blow up over the next few years and teams need to adjust their expectations before they get stuck.

The more I think about it the more I like the Murphy and Dickinson signings - particularly Murphy.

And the more I'm convinced the Oilers need to lock up Kapenen even if it feels like an overpay today. How many times are they going to have to learn this lesson? They have control of good players - playoff performers in their prime - and they let them walk because they are insulted over their contract asks and then they go and bring in a worse player for the same money. Rince/repeat.

They have an elite second line in their back pocket of 29/42/92 and they are going to let it evaporate over a million or so that will seem like a bargain in a couple of years.

Robertson is probably in that 14-15M range with these 2 Darnell Nurse sized cap increases expected in 2 years.

26 years old with 41,45,46 goal seasons under his belt. ~33% more points than any other Dallas Star the last 5 seasons. He's been durable and driving play for a long time since he was young. Solid 2-way player too. His impact is similar to kaprizov but with better defensive effort.

Probably turned Washington down because they are about to start a 10% millionaires tax in a couple years. And who knows how much higher that will go when they find out they are still running out of money only taking 10% from rich ppl.

No doubt. Culture leads into politics and policy. He might as well come to Canada as Seattle. Not too many people when given the choice are going to be doing that.

It's hard to believe that a professional GM gave this player away for less than nothing to be allowed the privilege of paying all of Tristan Jarrys salary.

TSN saying CBJ is listening to offers on Werenski. Oilers should offer the moon in return. Some combination of Nurse (must), Savoie, 2028 1st, Howard, any/every other pick, whatever it takes.

True. He'd be a defensive stawart fro a few years.. foundational piece.. cost the moon and some stars.. we don't have very many stars to trade unfortunately.. he's like a Porche.. we got a trade in, and enough cash for a Kia.

Massively overrated.

He's 28 and has never played in a game that matters. The Oilers have a million things to fix but I would have zero interest in this over hyped pretender.

I know it won't happen (he won't go to Canada) but I would love for the leafs to sell the farm to get this guy and watch him implode over the next few years.

Some big trades out there.. lot of 1st rounders changing hands..

We can forget about getting Cossa.. gone to Utah for the 1st that Stevie wanted..

Looks like Vegas is clearing out a track with dorefeyev out..
Update.. I see now why.. he was RFA and just signed with NYR for 7 x 11M = 77M .. holy crapper!

Didn't think McTavish would get 2 x1sts!

We were never in any of these proceedings.. suspect we'll be scraping the barrel for aquisitions.

Final gift (aside from years of retained cap we end up with) of Holland’s Nurse contract is us being totally paralyzed looking for someone willing to take him while the rest of the league is making moves.

Imagine an alternate reality where we had a smart GM that knew Nurse’s Canadian division year was a fluke (offensively I mean, he still sucked defensively, especially without McDavid driving play for him) and sold high on him that year. Minimum 2 cups by now if we had that smart of a GM.

Carolina get J. Carlson from Ducks for a 6th

Carolina loading up

Just for negotiating rights, yes?

Yep.. they have to sign him now.. if he wants 9M he might hav eto shop in the SJ or Chi aisle.. don't think Canes cap would be able to handle it.

I suspect they wouldn't spent a #6 if they didn't think Carlson was interested.. but ya never know.. could go to market.. he has a 10 team no trade list so Anaheim could have sent him to Carolina without his approval.. but I doubt it..

Carson has an interesting contract .. it was 8 years.. first 4 seasons he had a 15 team no trade list.. last 4 seasons a 10 team..

Panthers add Brady, Hathaway, Gudas and Markstrom in a week. They give up Rodrigues. They mean business, the other GMs are pretenders.

I should not doubt them, but that team should spend a lot of time in the box, and if the Oilers had grabbed Markstrom I would have some serious concerns about his age and health (not that Elvis Merzlikins rumours make me feel safe).

An undisciplined team better have an air-tight PK, assuming the refs do their job. They are not scared of making moves, but I am not sure if this is a winning formula.

Nothing has changed in officiating the last few years. They know that they will only get so many penalties, so they can do just about whatever they want after that.

Gudas signs with Florida for 6 years x 1.5M lol.

Probably only intends to play 2 or 3 of this years and LTIR for the rest.

Byram gets 6 x 12.5M from Chicago

Rasmus Andersson extends with Vegas for 7 x 8.5M

Honestly not sure what Byram did to deserve that contract. No way to look at his numbers on nhl.com or analytics to be that impressed with his play. Makes Bouch's contract look like an absolute steal.

Andersson getting what you expect now for a vet D that can push play a little on the 2nd pair on the UFA market now.

Thats crazy for Byram.. 12.5M .. I don't think he's top tier.. unless the D a notch above him are getting 16M

I was hoping Vegas would sign Andersson 7 x 10M because I think he'll fall off a cliff.

I was also hoping Corey Perry would come back.. he signed for 1M in LA

.. and that Mikheyev guy from Chicago that was rumoured to Oilers signed for Fred money 3.85 x 4 to Tampa

Looks Like Oilers are sitting this out.. which based on the Oiler pro scouts may be a good thing..

Oilers always wait until the there's only the bottom of the barrel left, then get embarrassed and sign whatever dregs are left to term and NMC's.

No deal is better than bad deal.

The Stache still has powers. Stu Skinner signs with the Jets for 2 x 3.75M

Seems like the jets will trade Helle soon. Probably to one of the usual suspects with nice taxes in the USA.

Imagine going from Hellebuyck to Skinner. Ouch.

Does seem like we're sitting things out. Paralyzed by the NUrse situation. Maybe that's a good thing? We really need to fix this team with more trades than overpaying UFA's. But, it's Bowman and gang. So little faith good trades are possible with this management.
