McCarron, similar age, got 20M over 6 years.

Looks like market value for a 3C. McCarron bring a righty and bigger, but Dickinson being more productive. I’m not too concerned.

As long as its without any NTC/NMC baggage it'll probably be movable.. he'll be 35 at the end when he's UFA.

Its likley the UFA market price but still at least 1 to 2 years longer than ideal .. he was being paid 4.25M by Chicago so he wasn't shootn for the moon on this one.

Well thats half of Nurse's cap used now.. at least its not 4M x 8 like Fred!

Not looking good for an affordable Murphy signing.. Stanley doesn't seem like much of a grinder.

I'm ok with the contract. Not great, not terrible.

Not exactly an ironman and players don't usually get more healthy after the age of 30.

My bigger concern is that they are going to let Kapanen walk. I hope I'm wrong but this management team is unable to recognise and prioritise the players that deliver in the playoffs. Hence letting Brown, Perry, kane, hollo/berg go for nothing.

Who will this years version of mangiopani or skinner be?

Yeah Bowman/Jackson have let more good talent go than aquire.

Hopefully someone on the staff (prays) stops another Magiapane or Skinner from happening..

Oilers needed something solid fro the PK.. it killed them last year.. Son of Dick can provide that.. I'd like Kapper back as well.. he was a gamer.. but he's probably looking to cash in..

What do you think cashing in is for him?

If he wanted say 3x5 I'd do in a heartbeat. That 29 42 92 line could be a game changer.

Maybe 4x4

not sure what Kap's looking at but he had a decent season and other teams with big cap space might offer what he expects .. Oilers might be strapped after Murphy .. and could be fubar'd if they can't trade Nurse's cap with him.. If the can move Nurse's cap then they'll have about 15M to sign a few guys..

For comparison Seatlle just signed McMann for 6 x 5.75M
McMann is 30 as well.. faster than Dickinson.. started scoring last couple years..

Funny thinking back to MacT talking about how exclusive the “4M price point” had to be on our team. Like it could only be reserved for 1 Dman and we had to let Petry go because our 4M price point quota was already filled with a superstar like Nikita Nikitin.

Now the 4M price point is for 20 point forwards. If we managed to talk Frederic down to 5 years he probably would have come in around 4.5M. How things change.

They are selling him as the 3C, but I'm not sure he brings enough offense to really be considered a third line centre. Seems more like a fourth line center to me. And if so, that's an expensive deal. Could be a comparable contract as Henrique's towards the back half of it.

Look, he's okay. Strong defensively. But does anyone else feel like he is cashing in a little on one good playoff game?

Not the worst deal that Bowman has signed, but probably a little too much for a little too long. The Oilers Way.
