He reminds me a bit of Erik Gustafsson in 2019 with the Blackhawks. Had a big breakout year while he also got to quarterback the powerplay, but never reached that level again (but did have a couple other decent years). The difference is that Gustafsson was 26 when he had his big year, but Raddysh was 29. So the Maple Leafs are going to be paying him $9.5M throughout his 30s. That is honestly pretty insane.

I had accidently had typed in 9.5M.. but its actually 8.5M x 8 .. still a reach at 30 yo..

That was a good comparison with Gustafson.. but as you say he was only 26

Apparently Raddysh has some trade protection in the contract.. not available yet..

Leafs probably feeling the pressure to make a splash to convince fans next season isn't going to be a lame McKenna development year.

That's a bit risky for a guy that had his first breakout season at 30, passing to the Hart winner all night, coached by the Jack Adams winner and backstopped by the Vezina winner. None of that good stuff in Toronto.

I get the desperation from the Pelley/ChatGPT perspective though.

Wonder if they go hard for Tuch too. Another 30+ guy looking for a huge payday.

Florida pulling off a blockbuster trading 3 1sts and a 2nd for Brady Tkachuk. Steep price, but worth it for them.

For sure. What the double male hockeysticks is Ottawa thinking? Why do they hate us?

I pity Brady having to carry Turtles weight as a d-bag.. Panthers will be off-scale on the douche meter

Panthers have $7M left and no goalie.. only 13 forwards + 6 D signed.. 19 players total.. more moves likely.

Good move by Ottawa. He was obviously not staying there so might as well get in front of it. Looks like they are getting a pretty nice return for a 60 pt grinder.

The bigger point here is that Canadian teams need to be extremely careful about investing in American players going forward. This is not going to stop happening anytime soon.
