To be fair Gregor usually sounds like he's going to cry.. the man does like a soap box ;)
I'm with you.. the minimum wage in the NHL is close to a $1.2M CAD now.. .. so I'm not too broken up if some guys get hurt feelings.. its not like they're working in a NIKE sweat shop or something..
When you're that wealthy there'll always be some players harder to movivate than others to become more accountable for their level of play.. or even to train and get better in the off-season.. McDavid's teh best in the world and he's still training and practicing to and continuously gets himself better season to season.. can't say the same for most of the rest.
To set a higher standard of expectations you may need to put some guys out of their comfort zone.. Some guys require the motivation.. for some the self-motivation is burnt into their DNA..
There's some Oilers I think who could use some added accountability.. hopefully they rise to the higher level of expectations.. or they can't .. or won't.. then you can make your roster changes based on the results..
We'll see where this circus leads but I'm not so concerned about MB's harshness with players I'm more concerned about the fact he's been out of coaching for 6 years.
Take it FWIW.. Hyman is as nice a guy, and straight level as they come.. and he loved playing for Babcock.. I guess we'll see what shakes out.

I am not with you.
Using your argument that a millionaire pro athlete should be a robot and perform to any coaching style is ridiculous. First off, the coaches are also millionaires and they should be the best at their job. Drawing up plays, but more importantly be good leaders and communicators. It is literally their job to be coach players to be their best version of themselves. There is a time to bag skate, there is a time to reward, and there is a time to step back.
Being a dickhead coach is lazy. Players are human, and that may work for some players, but its unrealistic to think it would be universal. I am assuming, like myself, you like a hardnosed, no nonsense boss. Calls a spade a spade and is black and white. That works for some employees, for others it disaster and causes workplace stress for everyone. I would almost bet my house that Jon Cooper has an extremely high emotional IQ and works on learning how to motivate each player. If your HC is not a people person, then he better stay out of the way and have good assistant coaches surrounding him doing the people managing.

Please let this investigation take well into October!
What a crapshow, just desperate moves and poor moves at that.
I bet Toronto is looking at us and sees what's happening and say... what a clown organization.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

Nice attempt at some extra motivation to get him a cup before he's out.
Hopefully it fails!

yeah...we really really want Babcock. Or Katz does at least. Now in contact directly with the NHLPA to try to sort out issues. Other reporting saying that Babcock already gave all the details to the Oilers and it did not deter us in any way. Basically just trying to find the fastest path between the PA and NHL to get this done.

Nurse asks for a trade.. you think Oilers will come out ahead on this.. extra $9M or so.. but we have Bowman deciding what to do with it after.. He'll sign Murphy for 6 x 7 or Dickenson for 5 x 6 .. can't even feel positive about this ..

Friedman more or less said there is a group of players who do want this to happen. The naysaying is coming from agents of players on the team that aren’t in that group, or agents of players who could be traded to EDM.
Pretty messy stuff.

Bleed Oil Blue @BleedOilBlue
Elliotte Friedman believes that if the Vegas Golden Knights don't bring back John Tortorella,
he could become a candidate for either the Edmonton Oilers or the Toronto Maple Leafs coaching job.
Torts comes in as a motivational speaker basically. He and all the players say he changed nothing about their system play, and Torts kept saying he doesn't need to tell guys what do to because they already know.
He comes in with perfect timing of Carter Hart coming back from injury and getting red hot, letting the whole team play loose and confident. Then as soon as Hart starts to falther, everything starts to fall apart again and they are right back to how they played under Cassidy with trash goaltending ruining the teams confidence.
Yeah, definitely sounds like we should hire Torts!
