Kulak series winning goal in OT. lol. Hope Katz saw that.

I'm just glad the Oilers and their brilliant management found a way to unload such a useless player and his boat anchor 2.75M salary! Not like they could have used a proven playoff performer d-man anyway.

Hey. Sacrifices had to be make to acquire a crappier more expensive longer term version of Stuart Skinner! Along with tossing in a 2nd round pick.

Hart is playing for his entire future in the NHL. Definitely get the motivation. I hope he gets completely blown away by Colorado to put a stain on his finish this season. Pacific division was truly a pillow fight. We made the ducks look way better than they actually are by basically playing no defense. Time for some real competition for Vegas.

I do believe our injuries were a factor as well. The Oilers never even looked average during that series. This team, if healthy, should have beaten the Ducks and would have pushed Vegas in a series, and then the Av's would have steamrolled us in 4.

Yeah, if McDavid's was going, we probably still outscore our defensive issues.

I couldn't see us passing Colorado or Minny. We would have needed to pray for Dallas to somehow make it to the conference finals again and look totally inept offensively to help us out, but they did it against Minny already.

So, Vegas took their belief they should get special treatment a bit too far.

They were outraged that McNabb would get a 1 game suspension for a blatant interference play that caused an injury. So outraged that Torts decided he doesn't need to do his media appearances, even for the end of a series.

100k fine and loss of Vegas's 2nd round pick in 2026 came down as the punishment.

Funny stat. The oilers are paying Jack Campbell and Jarry more cap than the combined cap hit of all the playoffs final 4 starting goalies.

We better figure out goaltending one of these days. There is some randomness, but our 2 expensive guys had huge red flags before we picked them up.

The combined salaries of the four likely starting goaltenders in the conference finals is $7.215M

$965K - Dobes

$2.75M - Andersen

$2.00M - Hart

$1.50M - Wedgewood

Jarry+Campbell = 7.68M

Vegas beats Avs without Makar.. Avs seemed to take a while to get rolling.. too much rust.. plus Hart is better than what Avs have.

Ugh, bad news. Think Carter Hart has not depended on Dustin Schwartz for some time now. He has his own sports psychologist John Stevenson and he works with the Shane Clifford goaltending group.

I was hoping Schwartz powers would sink Vegas, but seems like only the Oilers love true Dustin Schwartz goalies.

Thats interesting.. as a franchise owner you think you'd be able to have a say in what goaltending coaches your player's should use.. I'm not sure who else is out there for independant goalie coaching but Vdar on Philly said he went to a new guy over last summer (not sure if he's independant or the team coach) to help with his lateral movement across the net.. vast improvement and had a stellar season.. so it is possible for the right coaching can make a big difference.

Oilers (its been mentioned here before) should have its own GOALIE DEPARTMENT .. c/w PERFORMANCE LABORATORY .. the money spent would NOT be included in the team cap..
If you have a goalie on a long term expensive contract that has a lot of technical faults.. best solution is to do whatever you can to remove the faults .. a lot less expensive in draft pick and prospect assets to develope your own star goalie.. than trying to pry loose someone elses.. or signing one in free agency..

While your're at it, I'd also have a SKATING Department c/w Performance/Analytics Laboratory ..

Speed kills.. every player on the roster should have their skating evaluated and analyzed for efficiency .. edge application, stride pattern, strength .. there are a lot of physics involved in a simple skating stride.. which can be quantified.. and hopefully modified and corrected..

If you can't draft high enough to get the players with the top percentile speed.. draft for best player available and then "make" him fast.. and .. make your existing roster palyers faster as well. .. everyone goes through it.. even McDavid :) .. actually what you'd do is model McD's skating and then use it as a template to compare to the rest of the players.. each palyer gets personal skating drills to correct their own specific faults..

It's a thought anyway.. icon_smile
