3:30 .. Duck snaps his head back like a bobble head and ref makes a ghost high stick call.

I was watching that sequence in disbelief as each successive Oiler spazzed out and couldn't move the puck few more feet to get it over the blue line.. and thought.. this will cost a goal.. had the game in hand.. 2-0 ... 3-2 with minutes left.. didn't even give themselves a chance. to close it out

Frederic is such a tool. Dude just completely forgets the puck on the rush out and it ends up in the net moments later.
Garbage.
Utter trash. Hopefully they fire Frederic into the sun; terrible hockey player.

How can the ref call that a goal from the corner though? That's some kind of BS.
Regardless, stay out of the EFFING box and don't give the Anaheim PP which is an automatic goal against your pathetic PK a chance. Second period, two auto goals against the Oilers.
Trash.
This team is so done.

Not one ref saw that go in. impossible to.. they changed their "call on the ice" 3 minutes later as they were making up a story.. they knew what they were doing.. if its inconclusive by video then it would become a goal and a win for Anaheim.. never seen anything like this.. if its inconclusive by video its always ruled no goal.. its the default.. because no ref before has been stupid enough to call something he never saw.. or couldn't see.

Here's some more ..
The goal line is supposed to be 2 inches wide.. same as the 2" goal post diameter.. and the edge of the goal line should align with the inside edge of the post.
All those zoomed in photos of the skate where some guys are drawing lines along what they imagine is the edge of the goal line.. but they leave out the goal post from the image..
However, from this larger photo you can see the in-ice goal line is not 2 inches wide.. its much less.. and edge of the line doesn't line up with the inside edge of the goal post.. it looks to be off by at least 3/4"
You can use the goal post diameter as a 2 inch reference. The goal line is much less than 2 inches wide.. and doesn't line up with the post edge..
If you had a wider view photo of the entire back of the net you could draw a line from the inside of both posts to establish a more definite goal line.
Even then, the edge of the line is never "clear" it has a fuzzy margin of error at least 1/4" either side.
Based on the location of the goal line to post.. IMO the puck was not in.
-------------------------------
So the narrative "that in the end it doesn't matter what the refs called on-ice the puck was in anyway".. is a false argument as far as I'm concerned.
You can see by the complexity of determining where the goal line is that the default video decision when you don't actually have conclusive evidence.. is always NO GOAL ..
Its also the reason why the default on ice call by the refs when they have not conclusively seen it go in.. has ALWAYS been NO GOAL.. except for last night.. I can't recall that ever happening.. regular season or playoffs .. ever.. why did these 2 refs decide to break with established protocol?

Knoblach's reaction to the OT goal decision by the NHL..
Man.. so weak assed..
| Quote: | Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch
It was very close. And I’ve seen it before where I thought we were going to get away with it. I’ve seen it in the past where I thought goals have gone in and they haven’t been able to prove them. So I thought that’s what the call was going to be. obviously, they thought otherwise… I guess the goal call on the ice was about 60-to-90 seconds after or maybe more. They huddled and got to centre ice then made the call it was a good goal. So I don’t know. It wasn’t very definitive.

How was that called a goal on the ice ????? !!!… Worst call I’ve ever seen. In the history of the NHL this is it. Trash… So these two guys (referees) got together and said what?
“You see anything?”
“Nope did you see anything”
“Nope i couldn’t see sh_t”
“Me neither. So no goal?”
“Well the crowd is going nuts and Ryan Poehling said it was in so i think we say it’s a goal”
“Yeah good idea. That’s a goal”

That's the main issue. They just made up the "goal called on the ice". They never saw it in. It should have been blown dead earlier actually. No ref had any idea where the puck was after Nurse put it under Jarry.
They huddled, and decided to take the shortcut to the game ending by making up that it was a goal call initially which then has to be disproved by the replay, which the replays couldn't conclusively do.
Garbage.

You're absolutely right.. should never have been called a goal on ice .
I'm saying that the media narrative now is "yeah it was a bad call but based on some zoomed in photos it looks like the puck was "probably" in anyway.. so in the end it doesn't matter it was the right outcome"... Media and NHL spinning the facts to bail out the refs and the NHL from their F up..
I'd say it's pretty evident that based on the wider angle view that the puck was NOT across the goal line.. conclusively or otherwise..
