Whew! Nice comeback by the depth guys
Ekholm saved that goal at the end messing up the guys shot with a stick check.
McDavid Drai and Bouch owe themselves a big night in game 2. Especially McDavid who was trying to hero mode skating directly into ducks and losing the puck every time all night long. Same stuff he did in OT in the Olympic gold medal game.

Wouldn't have won that one without several MASSIVE saves by Ingram. The one right before Dickinson tied it and then again at the buzzer.
I said it in the game thread, but that was one of the worst playoff games I've ever seen from McDavid. Thankfully our depth guys came through big time. Podz, Kap & Dickinson were HUGE this game

All was well after 20, and it looked like the players thought so as well as it wasn't until the 50th minute they came back out to play. We won, we know are in a bit of a series now and we move on to Wednesday.
Only 15 more La Bamba's needed now.....

Draisaitl had 2 assists and that line was by far their best. Not sure you can ask for much more from 29 in his first game back. Beast mode to get the winner.
Bouchard I thought was ok but not great. Obviously a glaring mistake trying to make a pretty tricky play off the boards for the Ducks second goal.
Mcdavid was awful. I'm shocked someone didn't pull him aside (or maybe they did after the game) and remind him that this isn't novice. You can't just try to skate through the whole team on every shift. You have linemates. It looked like he was more concerned with playing keep away and trying to dangle as many ducks players as possible than actually playing the game. Agree with another poster that said that was his worst playoff game I've seen. Not sure I've seen a worse game from him period.

McDavid only tends to fumble and play with no thought like he did in this game when he's got a bit of an injury. It's as if he's trying to con the opposition into thinking he's OK.
The fact we won without him scoring is good, it should give the team a bit of a boost to show we aren't just McDavid and others. If we can get more wins and him not scoring then all the better, saves him burning himself out for the later series.

Yeah I shouldn't have grouped Drai with those 2 guys. Drai's zone entry jumping through 2 Ducks, including their best D, created the GWG too.
Good news is, McDavid and Bouch have done this slow start, totally off their game, thing many times before, and they always bounce back. Ducks just wasted their chance to win a game with McDavid being a non-factor.

I only got to watch half the game cause my dumbass PVRd one of the sportsnet channels that decided to continue with the double OT Sens-Canes game.
Anyway - the period and a half I did see? Meh. Nurse looked competent which is nice. Dach and Dickinson looked decent.
McDavid - I don’t think I remember ever seeing him fumble so many pucks. Usually has it on a string. This was the opposite of that.
Not sure if any of you watched the Sens and Canes. But the intensity in that game made this one feel like a preseason snooze fest. It’s a long postseason (hopefully) and there’s only so much in the tank, but if this was the best they’ve got, they won’t get too far.

We played a very good first period, a very bad second period, but they came alive in the third period. Was awesome to see our depth come through and play well. Ingram was also fantastic.
