#Isles News: New York Islanders General Manager and Executive Vice President Mathieu Darche announced today that Patrick Roy has been relieved of his coaching responsibilities. Peter DeBoer has been named Head Coach of the New York Islanders.
Crazy, but the Isles need a boost right now and seeing Vegas get their energy boost from their own coach firing maybe inspired the move.

Good news for Knoblach.. rumour was that Oilers had looked at DeBoer a few months ago.. might've been waiting to see what happens after this season..
My blame is with GM and president and their roster decisions
But Knobs job still on the hot seat.. now Cassidy is on the table..

Cassidy probably gets snapped up quick this summer. That brand new 3 year deal for Knob that hasn’t even started yet might be a big financial hurdle for upper management to make a head coach move. Doubting Cassidy takes any assistant or associate role.
