Skinner wins another game today vs. Detroit.. I watched some of the game.. Skinner didn't have to make one tough save.. Pittsburg's forecheck and defensive structure was SMOTHERING.. Detroit didn't one scoring chance in the last 12 minutes ..

I was left thinking.. If Edmonton had either Pittsburg's or Detroit's bottom 6 forwards .. and replaced Nurse with somebody else from either teams top 4 D pairs.. they'd be unstoppable.

Pens set a franchise record for least shots allowed in a road game. I've watched some of the other Pens games, and they had lots of atrocious defending events. Seems more of a case of Detroit just taking a game off. Maybe they are like us, allergic to leading a division.

But hey, not like we have any goalies right now ourselves. This Jarry guy better be back soon.

Uhhh, what?

NHL News @PuckReportNHL
FULL TRADE: Penguins acquire Sam Girard and 2028 2nd round pick from Avalanche for Brett Kulak. No salary retained. #LetsGoPens #GoAvsGo

Dubas got a better player and a 2nd round pick for our cap dumped player?

That's messed up man. Girard is more expensive, so if you just accept our team is always up against the cap and such a trade would be impossible for us to make, maybe hurts less. But, of course need to ignore all the cap we've wasted, even in the last year.

Sounds like Avs are making cap space for a tradeline deal upgrade.. Kulak is probably no worse than Girard.. maybe better.. and he's an upcoming UFA

The Jackson/Bowman era has been a complete and total disaster. Every move they execute makes the team a little bit worse.

Unfathomable that they just "threw in" Brett Kulak who is a steal of a deal for what he brings and has elevated his play every year in the playoffs. And they added a second just to get zero salary retention on Tristan Jarry. I thought it was an awful trade at the time and it's looking worse now.

Then again I'm not surprised anymore. I'll admit in the summer of '24 I was optimistic about this management team but they are somehow failing to clear the insanely low bar left by Hollarelli.

The penguins somehow turned an overpaid goalie a year away from the minors (who likes to throw his teammates under the bus) into Sam girard, Stu Skinner and 2 2nds. lol

They should be calling bowman and our pro scouts out most of all. Going from one Dustin Schwartz product to another and we just end up with the same damn goalie at double the price with 2 extra years. Pens are playing way better defense than us and skinner still can’t bust 0.900 so at least we still know he sucks, but we are stuck with Jarry now. Pens can just walk from Skinner this summer and laugh at us.

Bowman has 3 long term deals on the books in less than a year that he would have to pay massively to unload, Walman, Frederic and Jarry. Zero teams would add these players at that price without being paid to take them, no matter how much cap space they had. Terrible GMing.

Oh yeah it is unbelievably awful. Complete unforced error that was %100 predictable. Bowman, Jackson and every pro scout in the organization should probably be fired based on the last couple of years. Although Podkolzin is looking like a gem so keep whoever identified him.

I just think it's funny how overnight the narrative has flipped 180 on Jarry and all the media guys are calling him out and publicly trashing him. Compare that with the absolute refusal to ever call out Skinner for bad play. That doesn't just happen by accident - that happens when a "journalist" get's their feelings hurt.

I also think it's pretty crazy that Jarry apparently saw how Stolarz went into Toronto and tried to be the hero by calling out his team and defense and how that worked out and said "I want some of that"!

Honestly I can't imagine how tone deaf you have to be to come to a new team as a goalie in a fishbowl market and think that calling out your teammates publicly is a good idea. Regardless of weather or not it's true it's just a terrible plan and Jarry should have known better.

Stache envy is a powerful force. Jarry just isn't capable of growing the same kind of media cover above his upper lip.

If I were Katz I'd make sure that every roster decision.. draft pick, UFA, offer sheet!, trade, signing.. anything involving a player assessment process.. was completely documented.. and every scout, GM, coach.. whoever.. that vouched the most for that move be given credit and/or discredit for that decision.. get it all on record.. call it a "resume" of assessing player talent.. I'd want to know who needs to be replaced.. or retained.. so I don't keep having bad decisions taking place.. and wasting seasons.. as we have

Saw someone dig back up the rumblings that Stan was trying to get Jarry with retention to go with Jarry+Skinner, but Dubas refused to bite on any retention. If Dubas did bite, maybe that would have meant we trade away Ingram instead, who wasn't given a fair shot in net here up that point, to the Pens or someone else because we still love our Pickard.

Imagine if that happened, lol. Might have been the actual end of the McDrai era. Who knows, maybe we would have gone begging Schwartz to come back too, to help his 2 students.

Just saw Skinner in net vs Hurricanes.. gave up 6 goals in the loss.. some stinkers.. of the dejavu variety.. while Jarry hasn't answered the bell.. I sincerely doubt Skinner would've either.. won't miss him as a goalie
