I’ll take the 5 minute PP, but that wasn’t a 5 and a game. That’s 2 minutes. I’m stunned they called that. If it was McDavid, guaranteed 5 and a game. Parros might have called in to make it a double major. But against us? Shocked.

Honestly I was too but I still think it was the right call. Goalies need to be protected. I just hope the NHL keeps this standard so maybe guys like Bennett wont keep accidentally on purpose hurting goalies in the playoffs.

I do think that was the right call too. MacKinnon didn't just hit the goalie, he completely blew him up, going full steam in to him.
Nurse didn't do much there - he's reaching and actually deflects MacKinnon's shot wide. He doesn't contact MacKinnon with much force at all - MacKinnon is driving through his head too really.
I don't know if he was intentionally planning to bump the goalie, but he did not make a lot of effort not to do so. No effort to stop, minimal effort to pivot, no attempt to jump or twist out of the way. And as a result he AT MINIMUM dark-roomed the other team's goalie (refs didn't know he'd be unable to come back at that stage).
I think it's probably a good precedent for the NHL to set to police that that way...now they just have to remember to call it the same when it's one of Parros' or Campbell's favourite teams.
