Well, at least I won't have to worry about wasting my early summer watching long playoff runs.

Needed another D.. Walman and Nurse are tire fires.

Dickenson might help the 3C.. relegate Henrique out..
Colton Dach might be what Fred was supposed to be.

Who knows.

Three players with total of 35 points for a 1st, 2nd and Mangiapane. The pundits have been calling this a buyers market for the last 10 days with sellers potentially getting stuck with players they want to move and we panic, move first and pay a huge premium. What I wouldn’t give for competent management.

Apparently Dickenson has the 2nd highest TOI vs. elites among NHL forwards .. if true it might help neutralize the other teams top lines and free up Leon and McD vs. the teams weaker lines.. of course Walman and Nurse might neutralize Dickenson's efforts.. so back to square one..

Dach is a mystery to me.. 6'-4" has skill and hits.. but its all about speed.. either have it or not..

The first rounder was the cost of failing to analyze your UFA signings properly..
We still have 3 boat anchor contracts left.. Nurse, Fred, and starting to look like Walman's as well.
Oilers should stay away from Free Agent frenzy.. go golfing.. plan a fishing trip.. with no phones or internet..

Its a bad sign that Bowman's trades were all with Chicago.. he defaulted to player familiarity.. which might indicate the Oil scouting was less confident with their knowledge of other players league wide.

Don't like having to pay a 1st to get rid of a bad contract we just gave half a year ago. That's embarrassing.

And I don't like that the Oilers tuning out their coaches, or whatever the hell we're doing this year to not care about defense, has our GM obsessed about pure defensive players as his deadline adds. We needed to play the same level of defense we did last year, and add OFFENSIVE players for our next playoff run. We lost because we could not score outside of our top few guys. Our depth was completely useless. We should not be trying to fill brand new holes that the coaches and GM are clueless about how they were created.

I just keep going back to Florida picking up Marchand at 50% retention last year for a conditional 2nd rounder. There are ways to do better than this. The oilers just suck at it. And then if they get guys with any offence left in them like Marchand last year, we immediately find a way to kill that off entirely. Would love if we had a third line that could do more than simply try to survive.

We better make the playoffs now too. Moving our 2027 first round pick makes our pick to SJ now an unprotected 2026 pick (if we missed and got a high pick SJ was going to get our 2027 pick instead)
