Rumours that we're getting Dickinson for Mangiapane.
Pretty low scoring numbers for Dickinson. I'm not sure it's much of an upgrade although he's seen as a defensive forward. $4.25MM cap hit, so there has to be some retention too to make that work.
It's funny how often our GMs love eating out of the trough they just left though. Holland spent his first two years trying to get every Red Wing outcast he could...now we're seeing the same with Bowman and Chicago.

Also if this is the case, it's a little bit funny that we see the solution to our non-existing depth scoring as another depth guy with very low offensive numbers.

Reports are that Oilers sending 2027 first round pick plus Mangiapane. Oilers getting someone else too. That person hasn't been told so that is delaying the announcement.
That person better be someone good. A first rounder for Dickinson and a farmhand would be insane.

Seems Dickinson has had a bounce back year to his previous standards.
Pure defensive forward
We are obsessed with defense right now after a year of our team looking clueless at defending. Are we just tricking ourselves because this team tuned the coach out, and now it has distracted us from adding some more needed offense for the playoffs?
The way Mangy has played offensively (and defensively), I guess it's not a big deal to swap him for someone with a more predictable skill set.

To be fair, Dickinson went to the Blackhawks after Bowman was fired. I am interested to see who else the Oilers get though if there is a 1st Rounder involved.

Blackhawks would be retaining 50 percent on Dickinson in this trade. There’s also another player going to Edmonton.
The Blackhawks would get Mangiapane and a 1st RD pick in ‘27 (protected)
We just used our best trading chip to get rid of a deal we signed half a year ago, and to get a pure defensive 3rd liner pending UFA.
