Good to see our defence rolling along just like before.. I think Walman got worse.. spent 2 weeks eating cheeseburgers.

You couldn't give away our 2nd pair defence.. it'd cost you 2 x 1st rounders.

This was a game sabotaged by both pathetic NHL game management (i.e. refereeing at peewee level with an incredibly strong pro-quack bias) and some mediocre goalering …

That was some straight out horse manure.

Tristan Skinner, star pupil of Dustin Schwartz since he was in Junior, and Darnell Nurse. I don’t even have any more words

They are just pure terrible.. apart and/or together..
Both Walman and Nurse on ice for 4 goals against.. all at even strength .. I'd give up 2 firsts to package them off for nothing..

Yeah two pitiful defencemen in 25 and 96 combined with Skinner part II (Revenge of Dustin) is a recipe for a tee time.
If McDavid had decide to sit this game out that would have been an even bigger embarrassment.

Nurse in particular. That last goal was just pure Darnell. So stupid.

630 ched radio broadcasts suggested to send this pathetic player (Nurse) to minors…. and never look back at him!
The pathetic coach puts all the blame on goaltending….
He has to go…. he is purely delusional…. this team doesn’t play any defence… none!!!
What is his system!? i don’t get it… i think i can coach this Oilers team better than him just by forcing the d to mark the attacking players…

Yeah, Walman struggling hard out there. Is he injured? Or mailing it in after getting his retirement deal? Nurse is of course impossible for most guys to play with, but Walman's stats with other D pretty bad this season too. Usually D at least have better stats away from Nurse, but Walman being overall bad.

Some notes about this chart, the left numbers are averages of his last 3 years. He is being measured against 2nd pair quality D as well, so even though he's a 9.25M he is being measured relative to 2nd pair guys that mostly make half or less than he does, and he's still at ~25% this season.
Pretty confident saying this is Nurse's worst season of his career. Lost trust of coaches to be on the 1st PK (and his PK stats completely justify this, they are awful). Brutal performance with almost everyone. Playing weaker comp now, but still can't defend against it. His puck transporting ability is barely on display anymore to assist breakouts.
Most of his offense is him just becoming a winger and camping out deep in the offensive zone now and then when he is in the mood. Because those events are so rare and sporadic, Nurse's overall offensive analytics are in the tank. Lots and lots of bad stuff happening in our end this year with Nurse on the ice and he does not help push things the other way.
If Bowman didn't destroy our D depth, Knob would probably be playing Nurse on the 3rd pair by now.

I was hoping Walman was just injured.. but there's not even been a hint by the media he is.. I've come to the sad conclusion that this is what he is.. can't skate.. and weak on the puck.. looks fat and slow.
Credit to his agent.. Oilers now stuck with two long term immovable defenceman contracts..
Add that to Fred's pension fund.. and I think I can say that Bowman has failed in the ability to analyze and determine talent
He's already painted himself (Oilers) into a corner after only 1 1/2 seasons..
Opinion: What would it take (picks/players) to unload Walman and Nurse?
Someone on Lowetide referred to Nurse's regression as the modern day Wade Redden..
same kinda idea.. but I think Wade could still play better.

Did you mean the 630 CHED call-ins to the show ? .. none of the on-air guys right?
Regarding a defensive "system" .. how can you implement a system when you have parts of the system doing things like 25 and 96 do every shift? Too many faulty parts to make it work

$25M for 4 guys you'd cut if you could..

That was the first time I recall Knobs outright swearing and cursing at a ref.... he's definitely on the hot seat. And the hired gun in Coffey is back on the bench next to him.
I noticed McDavid again whiffed on a shot in the last 20-30 seconds in a big moment, which led to the turnover and penalty... I'm honestly worried about him. Between the two SCF loses and now the Gold loss, his confidence in big moments.... hope he shakes it off.
