Canada's biggest foe these olympics was Armstrong.

Exactly. Hey you've built a garbage team that has no chance of winning anything. But apparently you are golfing buddies with Ken Holland. How about taking that level of incompetence to team Canada?
I think it will be a bit of a blessing if they lose because this tool will presumably never be involved in any significant decisions again. Imagine taking the defense they did and leaving bouchard at home
I mean I'm glad he didn't take any other oilers because it's far better for Edmonton. But honestly what a masterclass in galaxy braining the simplest task you could have.

Oh boy needed that PP goal. Reinhart makes up for the giveaway for the SH one.
McDavid sets the points record for an Olympics with NHLers with 12, passing Selanne/Koivu.
The actual record is 37 points (36 goals and 1 assist) in 5 games in 1924 lol.

Great comeback, again. Big boys came up big. Binnington had to make a few big saves as well to keep the Finns at 2.
Sunday will be fun. Would be really nice to not have to comeback again, but who knows with this team.

McDavid living the 1-line team experience as usual. Weak D puck movement is making it hard for the rest of the lineup IMO. Whoever gets Makar is happy. Theodore probably the next best guy, but Cooper doesn't want to play him. Maybe that changes after that big goal.

Hope it's enough against the USA (assuming USA wins). Or maybe some of the rest of the lineup has another level they can hit. Would be very helpful! Maybe the USA/Canada game being nastier will bring out something in some of these grinder depth guys we brought.

Makar and Towes both having a nap while Boldy walks through them to make it 1-0.
I thought they only selected defensemen that knew how to play defense. Weird.
Canada the better team so far.

Man this D group is wild. Toews walked for a goal. Theodore out of the box to join a 3 on 2 rush and just instantly ices the puck for no reason . Doughty holding onto a puck until a guy just skates up to him to steal it. Endless Darnell Nurse style rings around the boards back to the USA. Some max pain. Hope we can keep it close for another comeback.

Canada need to create move havoc in front of goal, so far everything has been crystal clear, nothing to test Hellebuyck. A soft goal to give up, two d men not covering themselves in glory, Binnington, well lets just say it was Billington shall we..
Powerplay to start the second period though, time to make it pay.

Gotta say, you can really tell when Panthers players need to pass drug tests. our panthers guys picked because of their juiced up cup runs struggling hard to do a thing out there.

Trying to work out, did somone not come out for the period or get benched?? Our comms team hasn't said anything, if not it's just Cooper double shifting Mackinnon and McDavid.
Get an early goal in the third and USA will be beaten.

Think double shifting. Also think he is putting Horvat out for short shifts just for face offs because other guys struggling so bad to win them.

If you're 97 .. how can you come back and re-start a season with such a sad sack bunch of forwards and defencemen he has on the Oilers..? It'd be totally depressing.. the team will be lucky to make the playoffs.. and even if they did they are likely going out early.. I suspect it will be hard to find any meaning for the rest of this season ..

Toews .. open net..
MacKinnon .. open net
and the breakaways;
97
17
MacKinnon was a big disappointment.. didn't generate anything with McDavid.. and Cellibrini ? .. he seemed to get a case of the rookie yips.. couldn't finish.. looked to be over anxious..
The 5 v 3 was a gong show..
Missed 87.. he would've potted at least one goal.
I would've put 17 with 97 and 8 in OT .. MacKinnon kept chopping the puck square.. couldn't create open space
Overall too many forwards contributed nothing offensively all tourney.. most won't be back in 2030
Game never happened.. <click>

Should try bringing our best players too. We build a team with half the guys meant to protect leads and he basically had zero leads outside of 30 seconds in every elimination game. Makar had to play way too much to make up for the lack of puck loving in this D group. Cooper had to stop playing Makar with his top line because he was so desperate to get something from the rest of the forwards.
Doug Armweak handicapped this team badly and we paid in the end. A more balanced attack and this isn’t going OT for a 3v3 coin flip

Well if our guys could pot at least one of the open net goals or finish one of the breakaways.. we'd likely not have gone to OT..
Should have brought Schaeffer.. Wyatt Johnson.. guys that can skate and score.
Reinhart, Suzuki, Horvat, Marchand, Hagel, Jarvis didn't look to do much.. so much for team forward depth.. I'd be interested in the ice times.. don't think Cooper wound up playing them much in the end.. which is a waste of roster spots.
Losing both Morrissey and Crosby didn't help the cause.
USA forwards were not generating much all game.. invisible.. their goalie saved them.

Who needs more skill and speed when you half build half your roster for defending leads and end up having zero leads through all elimination games, outside of 30 seconds. Guy like Boldy would have been left off our roster in favor of another slow vet.

Seeing comments McDavid had his hand taped up in the handshake line (I refused to watch more after the game ended). So looks like our top guys are busted again before the NHL playoffs start. Drai hand/arm injury too. Year getting extra sucky.

We were the better team in that game but didn’t get the win. Couldn’t finish their grade A’s in the regulation time. Then too many guys in OT trying to be heroes with weak shots through yanks. Straight to 3 on 3 for a gold medal sucks.
I hope McDavid can win a cup with us. Even he said the 4 nations was not the Olympics right after scoring that goal. A lot of heartbreak in 2 years.
