To make room for reactivating Henrique (on paper anyway.. physically he needs reanimation ala Dr. Frankenstein) .. Oilers send Savoie down to Bako for cap reasons.. I expect mangi is still up instead because Oil hope a trade is available .. (?)
Must add.. another reason its Savoie is Oilers are going to give full track width to see what he can do rest of the season.. he's looked good against elite comp in the Olympics.

Further explanation by Puckpedia.. Looks like Savoie will be back after Feb 25.. they accumulate cap room and can recall him and still keep Henrique active.. think this means Samanski remains in Bako.. :(

With #LetsGoOilers sending Savoie down, they can now activate Henrique from LTIR.
They have $238K proj cap space available, which can fit $775K annual cap hit today. Using our Current Cap Space Slider, you can see that this grows to $897K by Feb 25, meaning they could potentially recall Savoie on/after that date

Almost impossible to make moves this deadline. After such brutal unforced error wastes of cap space. Feels like this team will never ever have competent management.

They can make moves - but they need to send out guys like Mangiapane, Henrique and Janmark if they're going to bring in other players.
I do still wonder if Jarry was the right move on goaltending. It's unfortunate that it sucked up even more of our cap space without being the obvious solution to the problem.

I fear the cost to move Mangy or Henrique. They don't bring close to their salary right now. And our abysmal pro-scouting could just have us fixating on another bum even if we do overpay to dump salary.
Jarry was definitely a panic trade. Consequence of not taking goaltending seriously the second the last playoffs ended. Still happy we finally got the ball rolling and ended the marriage to Skinner, but Bowman's work might just be starting with goaltending. He can't just look away anymore if Jarry isn't working out. I envy anyone that hasn't taken the time to watch Jarry playoff highlights. I'd much rather be blissfully ignorant of what Jarry could do going into this years playoffs.

There's no way any team/GM was going to give the Oilers an "obvious solution to the problem". After going to the SCF in back-to-back years, the best we were going to get was a lotto scratcher. One that would cost a lot more to get than we were giving up.
The scratcher so far has revealed "Please Play Again!", but goalies are unpredictable. Mediocre goalies regularly turn it on in the playoffs. 'Hope' is the only remaining strategy of this brain trust.
I still think McDavid gave them too good of deal and the smart move was the walk. Especially after that Frederic signing. Bowman and Jackson have no idea how to fix this team.

On the other hand, Florida managed to get impact players like Jones, Marchand, and Tarasenko in the middle of making the finals 3 times straight. There are 31 other teams all at different stages and with different forces at play. The issue is the Oilers haven’t ever been smart opportunists during the McDavid era. Colorado has 2 good performing goalies (the double woods) acquired after winning the cup…suffice to say I don’t buy that success eliminates trading partners in this league.
