Cirelli got injured Sunday.. he's out.. replaced by Bennet

Point is still out as well..

Toews had been out for a while for the Avs.. just played first game back.. I'd be bringing some D insurance .. they have a lot of roster room for the Olympics.. and no cap limit :) .. I'd bring Schaeffer.

Team Canada is making an injury change for the upcoming Olympics.

Sam Bennett will replace Anthony Cirelli.

Very sorry for Cirelli, who was injured Sunday.

Seth Jarvis replaces B. Point.. downgrade.. to me Jarvis was a disappointment in the 4 Nations.
Wyatt Johnson, Scheifele, Hyman, Bedard .. not considered. Schiefele for sure.

Team Canada management is always the first opponent that Team Canada needs to defeat.

To be fair to the Team Canada braintrust, they've just upgraded the 53rd highest scoring Canadian forward for the 27th highest! That's a massive swing! He's 22nd in points per game too!

As long as you look past the fact that they aren't bringing the 5th, 6th, 11th, 13th, 14th, or anyone from 17th to 21st, then Jarvis is a great pick.

Point is quicker though.. Jarvis I found really underwhelming in the 4N.

For this Olympic tourney speed is gold.

IMHO too many on the TC forward squad are average quickness.. defence too.

I guess they plan to wear the tires off of McDavid and Crosby's line.

That first line looks like fun. Can't wait to see it in action.

That defence is quite far away from what I would call their best.

Agree there were some better than a Sandheim.. maybe Doughty, Parayko as well

I'd have had Schaeffer there for sure.. kid would be the best skater on the D.. high IQ.. he's flying in the NHL right now.. gotta pick guys that are peaking.. not hope they get back to their peak form..

both Toews and Sanheim are lefties.. only 2 righties on the D (Parayko and Doughty)
If you're going to have 2 lefties together I'd rather put Morrisey and Toews together as the 2nd pair.. better skaters.. drop Parayko down with Sanheim.. unless Toews can't play right..

Cellebrini with McDavid I think will be a treat.. in the NHL vs Oilers teams double team and turn their entire focus on checking and/or marking McDavid because they know both Hyman and Nuge can't beat anyone 1 on 1 with the puck.. as a result McDavid rarely gets open space.. or gets lost in the other teams defensive scheme.. McDavid IS the scheme.

My hypothesis is that Cellebrini will eventually force other teams to focus on him when he has the puck and McDavid gets open space for lots of grade A's .. Tom Wilson is fast enough to keep up to both of them, and he can finish loose pucks and rebounds near the goal .. and he just generally mucks up the net front creating chaos for the defensemen.. The 2nd and 3rd lines are dangerous as well.. Team Canada can roll lines and keep the energy and pace high .. my hope! 🍁 👍🏻

It was a fantastic game. Finland got goalied Oiler style by a nobody and looked extremely tight right from puck drop. They could be fine but they could totally crack as the pressure to win grows. Who knows.

MC, CM, CM..... I'd be interested to find out if all three point scorers have had the same initials before in Olympic hockey and possibly how many times ever...

McDavid needed to bury that feed from Hagel... wide open cage, just needed to elevate. Need to finish those chances, or they'll rue them.

Binnington putting up a solid performance. Maybe removing questions if he will be the guy or not. Could be a good thing if he actually keeps it up. Not so good if he is going to be exposed against better competition if we are going to stubbornly keep him in.

McDavid waited forever for this chance. Not wasting it. He's absolutely flying out there.

3 assists. Not a bad day's work for his Olympic debut.

I'll take the win. McDavid looked good. But the Czechs looked pretty disjointed.

Loving that everyone is finishing their checks.

And if it was me, I'd say screw it and throw Mackinnon and McDavid out there together. Don't care who the third guy is.

France should be a fairly easy one, but Switzerland won't be a walk in the park. They've surprised us more than once.
