Wow. They said first time a team had 2 games in a row with a D hat trick.
Couple with our fastest ever 3 goals against vs the Penguins we are just mastering 3 goal events this last week.
"We need to get better immediately. That starts today"
- Lowe, 2013
"Next year I would forecast as another developmental year"
- MacT, 2015

Another night where by we've ground out a result. It wasn't pretty, but fun to watch for sure. The PK had an off night and after doing so much better with it since the start of the season, I just hope this was a one off night.
I'm sure the statto's will be loving the Oilers D after this game, and I'm sure the commentators will be discussing it too. I doubt that Samanski's debut will make any footnotes, but apart from showing a little bit of nerves which is understandable, I thought he looked OK and showed enough to think with some time spent with the big boys, his game will be improved and polished and make him another option for us eventually.
Sidenote, this was the first Prime match I've watched and even though it was on our cable channel that shows the NHL, it still ran with a few glitches as if it was been steamed to a PC or console. Judging by comments elsewhere I'm glad we don't get the interval shows shown.

The Viking!!

Those were all nice goals by Ekholm as well.. he generated the rush on the first two.. and then the long bomb empty net over the Duck defenseman's head was icing.
First time in NHL history two D-men on the sam eteam have had hat tricks in consecutive games!
Despite the goals for.. Defense was still a tire fire for a lot of the game .. too many mental blackouts.
Need some faster players to force the points on the PK.. can't break up the passes and then end up collapsing toward the net.. and giving up easy close in grade A shots.
Nurse was most of the blame on the 5-4 goal .. an unforced, no-look clear .. straight to the Duck winger.. then a weak block/deflection into the net past Jarry.
Really liked Somanski.. kid could move and was usually in the right place.. and shudda had a goal! Absolute Robbery!
I think I'd take him over Frederick for a starting spot, more effective
Could be a good find.
It was fitting his first game was vs the Ducks.. it was Woodcroft who told the Oilers that Somanski was someone they should sign when he was coaching against him in Germany (before getting the Anaheim job).. it wasn't a Oiler scouting find.. it was Woodcroft giving Oilers a solid.
Next guy that should get a try is Jarventie.. big quick winger
