Meh. Didn’t help to take the first 30 mins of the game off but we got we more chances than the devils. We just choked on most of ours. This 3 game streak thing feels like a curse at this point.

Well, that was predictable.
Didn't watch any of it due to the 11:30pm START time here, but it doesn't sound like I missed much. Oh well, on to the next one. Hopefully Drai gets back soon.

I wonder what the record is for winning 2 in a row, without ever winning a third? Very niche record, but someone must know.

2016-17 Avs never won 3 in a row all season. I'm sure there are others. Expansion year Caps are probably another one given they only won 8 games all year

2016-17 Avs never won 3 in a row all season. I'm sure there are others. Expansion year Caps are probably another one given they only won 8 games all year

Yes - but Caps never had a shot at 3 in a row (best they managed was to string together a win and a tie at one point and even that they only managed once). Avs in 2016-17 only had four times where they paired wins. We've failed 9 times to win the third game. So is that a record? It has to be close.
EDIT: I tried ChatGPT and it couldn't figure this out, suggesting it needs a specific stat query on NHL data to solve for it. That's more work than I'm willing to do today!

I let Grok abuse hockeyreference.com for seasons where teams could only win 2 in a row and never 3 and it is claiming:
1996-97 San Jose Sharks with 7 two-win streaks, max streak 2, and 27 wins.
Unfortunately, I only asked for full season results, so if the Oilers were to win 3 in a row before the end of this year, it wouldn't count as the same thing I asked for. Asking to include mid-season streaks of 2 win streaks without a 3 probably would never work without timing out hehe.

Regula gets a turn at forward.. should really be 25
.. and Podz gets demoted to 4th line with play killer Frederik.. and a defenceman .. Regula .. (?)

I think the coach is looking for someone to handle the puck some of the time on McDavid's line.. McDavid carrys it in, cycles it in the O-zone on his own, and then he tries to set someone up for a shot.. but no finish.. hands of stone.. a lot of wasted grade A chances McDavid creates are vapourized by no one to finish the plays McDavid creates.. all we needed was a couple of those to cash and we win some of the last few games..
I see the idea.. Nuge centering a line with some of those wingers likely isn't going to score either.. wingers are so weak.. so you might as well play Nug ewith McDavid to try and convert some McDavid's Extratererstrial play making.. he's on fire!
