When was our last back to back shutouts?

Man - loving Ingram in goal. Just always seems to be in the right position. Like an anti-Skinner. No flopping. Just steady. Hope it continues.

Might be our best b2b games in franchise history. Saw stat saying our first ever double shutouts with 5+ goals in b2b games.

Keep it up! Another shot at the 3 game win streak against the struggling Devils. No excuses.

Am I dreaming right now? Is this what it feels like to have solid goalies? I'm not sure I understand this sensation...

Apparently it wasn't that long ago - even with two different goalies in net! Skinner & Campbell combined for back-to-back shutouts in 2022-23 beating the Kings and the Ducks. For single goalie back-to-backs, it was last playoffs in the round against the Golden Knights with Skinner providing the goalie heroics.

Agreed on Ingram - he brings a calmness that we haven't had. The Oilers generally have liked acrobatic floppers in goal but I really like a goalie that just covers the angles well, and doesn't HAVE to sprawl to make the great save most of the time.

Smacking bad teams the way we should. Better not be any thought of sending down Ingram now.

Congrats Nuge, way to get the game winner!

A good win in an odd game. It was a scrappy, but we did the job. That's 1 goal let in, in the last 3 games and our D is the weakest part of our game. 11 goals in the last 2 and McDavid hasn't score any of them.

I don't think Binnington had a bad game, but with what was in front of him. Much the same way we've said about our netminders over the years.

Crowd wise, it was good to hear a "new" RNH chant towards the end of the game, but why oh why isn't Hey Nuuuge a thing?? I have to say I hadn't heard Hey Jude played before in Edmonton, but it fits pefectly..

11 goals and only 3 McDavid points. Multiple goals from Kapanen, Roslovic, and Podkolzin. Even 1 from Mangiapane.

Seems everyone has stepped up with Leon out. We would be a juggernaut if they could do this with Leon in the lineup!

Kapanen is really a beast when he's healthy. Can fly out there, forechecks, hits and can make plays. He really has all the tools. Unfortunately that style of play seemingly makes it impossible for him to stay healthy. Looks like he dodged a bullet this time which is great news. As always, being healthy and in good form for the playoffs is what matters

With Kapanen down and keeping 3 goalies.. now is the chance to try the "Darnel Experiment".. run him as a winger instead of the team going 11F x 7D .. unlock some of that 9.25 value! Power Forward ! icon_nod

Honestly, he has the potential to look good as a forward. Skates well, physical specimen, and less responsibility on the wing opposed to D, but for some reason I feel like he would be a soft forward to play against. He'd likely play like a finesse forward instead of wrecking ball of physicality.

Agree he's no Tom Wilson.. and doesn't have the grade A shot or hands.. but I think he could be a net front.. he can skate forwards ok (better than Fred) .. just not very agile .. like pivots.. which kills him defending rushes.. it'd be a fun experiment.. call it "Project X-25" :)

I think we should level set on expectations around Kasperi Kapanen. He has had one 40+ point season, and that was in his first full season in the league in 2018-19. He's only cracked 15 goals once in the time since (a split year between Pittsburgh and St.Louis in 2022-23.

He has had a great run in limited time this year with 9 points in 14 games, but that's so far outside his norm that I think we should look at that as a pleasant anomaly. He's a spot-filler in the top-6 and he's historically had pretty poor fancy stats, so ideally he's playing down the lineup at best.

I would love to be wrong there, but I think better to be realistic. He's 29 years old, so it's unlikely he's going to suddenly blossom here at this point in his career.

Kapanen creates a little test case to show how bad our depth actually is. He's not that great of a player, but in contrast to a lot of the slugs we've been carrying all year in the bottom 6, how he is able to look so effective shows us how weak our depth really is. Henrique out has also ended up addition by subtraction in the bottom 6. Having a line depending on someone that can barely get to a puck 5v5 to be the center/playmaker is just instant death for a line if you expect any offense from it.
