1 Cup

Awful effort, again. Rinse and repeat with these guys. The Christmas break sent this team back to the beginning of the season and the nonsense play that came with it.

So many guys on this roster are playing well below what they are capable of.

Drai, Hyman, Pod, Henrique, Janmark, Frederic, Ekholm, Bouch and Nurse are all playing well below established potential. Some dramatically so, like Drai. Brutal game from 29 again today. Just not even close to good enough.

One thing to add. I'm done being PO'd at Frederic, and am only really PO'd at Bowman and the pro scouting staff for trading for him and giving him that ridiculous contract. He's legitimately trying out there, however clearly has lost a step and his hands during his recovery from last year's injury. He's just not good enough to do anything of note anymore. Doesn't hit, can't skate, can sort of make a pass, doesn't fight... and we have that contract for 7 more years. Gross.

If Pickard didn't steal a game, could easily me 0-4 since the break. Determined to lose 1st in the West I guess.

I thought the kids barely got to play tonight, but Frederic played even less than those 3 youngins. Coach seems to be tired of his crap too.

Imagine if someone else gave him that 8 year deal. They would have to retain 1M and give us 2 1st round picks to take it off their hands now if we were still obsessed with having him. What a brutal unforced error.

No Cups

22 losses and 20 wins this season… this is not a playoff team; they have many more games played than most of the teams in the playoffs… when those games are going to be played, Oilers are not in the playoffs…. cup contenders!? come on…

Only guy on the Oilers that is showing up right now and making stuff happen is McDavid.. shameful.

This team wilts under a decent forecheck.. and can't produce their own

Can't see many of the culprits guys turning it around.. haven't seen too many glimmers of hope

Our 5v5 goal share with McDrai off the ice is now the lowest of the last decade. 30%.

Last night McDavid was on the ice for almost all our shots on goal.

Do we have to fire another coach? lol. I appreciate Knob getting more out of this group than any coach has in playoffs but damn, it’s crazy how little he is getting from our depth now. Or is this one of the weakest bottom 6 groups we have had? Among vets it may very well be. And he is not able to get any young guys to augment the slugs we have down there.

That meets the eye test for me.. I think the last 5 games iit might be 30% without just McDavid on the ice 5v5 .. Leon's line has struggled.. even with Roz back on it.

Here is the chart I saw:

Pretty crazy.

Although, a completely washed up Henrique that can barely touch the puck 5v5, and Lazar as our bottom 6 centers is crazy bad. Possibly the worst we've been down the middle in the bottom 6 in the last decade.

Drai seems to be stuck with total dud wingers again. Not sure what he has been telling Podz, but Podz seems to think he doesn't have to play a simple game anymore. Endless overhandling pucks and long skates in the offensive zone to corner himself and just toss the puck back to the D.

Back to being a 1 line team.
