2 Cups

Sleepy first 40 cost us two points.

97 hitting his superstar level.

Skinner looked good. Hate to say it.

Wasting periods where Skinner is playing well is pretty dumb by this team. Especially against a garbage team. A garbage team that embarrassed them earlier this season already. No pride. No killer instinct. Just waiting until the game looks out of reach and the other team starts to hang back to put a little effort in. Then back to slacking off in OT.

I didn't watch most of the game, but when OT started it looked like those guys were exhausted. I was wondering why Knobloch didn't start the OT line 2 for a minute.

Yeah, likely they were. The common theme for this team for years now, at the game and season level.

It's starting to look like we are on pace for our typical year. Have to burn all our good players out right until game 82 to stay in the hunt for a decent playoff position. Oh, plus the olympic break in there to add even more games to our best players.

On the bright side, Bouch seems to be doing everything in his power for that not to be a concern for him.

David Staples had started talking about how the Oilers were "fixed" and you just knew this kind of start was inevitable.

If I was always wrong like Mr. Staples, I'd just avoid making any positive predictions about the team I cheer for so as not to screw things up for everyone else.

McDavid goes super-nova.. Oil gets a point.
Without 97 this team is bottom of the NHL.

So many waste asses on that team.. nothing was going from the forwards except the chances generated by 97, 29, 18, 93 .. plus 92 !

I think Mangiapane could actually be replaced by Hutson right now.. Mangi is such weak sauce.. Hutson's defense can't be any worse.. and his offensive potential much higher.. Mangi doesn't PK so no loss there.. side note.. whoever scouted Mangiapane last year needs their scouting credibility by Oiler management reduced back to square-one.

The reason's Bouchard is not being considered for Team Canada are the same one's that will handicap Oilers chances at a Cup. They need him to get those mental blackouts out of his game.. Stanley Cup comes down to one break here or there during a game.. can't be handing them out free of charge routinely. How do you stop those blackouts.. hypnosis? (kidding not kidding)

and Fred? .. still playing like a league average (or below) 4th liner.. that pro-scout also needs to have their credibility downgraded. If Kapanen is ever resuscitated, Fred sits.

There are probably 15 things I worry about keeping us from winning a cup before I get to Bouch.

He is one of the top 3 reasons we made the finals the last 2 years.

I'm not saying Bouchard is "the" thing.. but those mental blackouts are one of them.. he has lots of company for sure. 19 player roster - (97,29,93,18,92) = 14
so pretty close to 15 :)

One unfortunate thing happening in plain sight this year. Nurse's ice time has dropped to his lowest since his 3rd season. Analytics-wise he's having on of the worst seasons in his career even with a big boost of offensive zone starts. His offensive zone start % is the highest since his rookie year.

Nurse seems to be falling into the "needs to sheltered" zone by Knob.
