Here's the lines as of this morning:
Savoie-McDavid-Hyman
Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Roslovic
Mangiapane-Henrique-Frederic
Janmark-Philp-Lazar
Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-Walman
Kulak-Regula
Skinner
I'm not sure why we are so set on filling the bottom six with players who aren't going to contribute anything meaningful. Henrique is getting pretty old and slow. Frederic's been invisible other then when he was getting punched in the face in Columbus. Janmark's always been a black hole for offence - was it only one goal last year with a goalie in the net? And Lazar is a borderline NHLer at this stage of the game. There's some talk about how Mangiapane hasn't done a lot this year but look who he's playing with now? That's grim.

I am willing to give Mangiapane a little more of a pass. He has had some good flashes when playing with good linemates, and he can move up the line up if needed and not look out of place. Can you say that about any of the rest of them? Would be great if he clicked on the 3rd line with Nuge a bit and we could roll 3 lines.

Tomasek and Howard haven't produced as much as we hoped but they at least occasionally generate chances. That fourth line is going to get caved in. It's just an exercise in hoping the other team doesn't score while we wait for the good players to catch their breath.
I don't know how the Oilers are still so stuck in the past with their belief in old, slow forwards who just fill out the ranks. The fourth line should be used to break in young talent. Then you can figure out what you actually have there. This lineup looks significantly better with Janmark and Lazar out.

Bottom six you see is mostly all they have, unfortunately.
Mangi is -17.. he's been a total disappointment.. plays die on his stick.. can't handle the puck.. s l o w .. he had his chance with McDavid.. failed.. have to move on IMO .. Savoie's turn
Fred has shown zero reason he's on the roster.. ineffective at almost every aspect as a forward, either in a top 6 or bottom six role.. and after getting cratered in his one fight.. his intimidation factor has sunk pretty low as well. He was supposed to be fast, and hard on the fore check .. haven't seen even a glimpse of that so far.
This is Clattenberg in his last game.. this what we were told we'd expect to see from Fred.. not even a passing resemblance..

Janmark won't score any goals.. but he can forecheck, has some speed, cycle, PK, and usually makes the smart play.. and willing to stick his nose in it.. I think everyone thought he was the one that was expendable at the start of the season.. now I think they keep him around for insurance based how poorly others have looked.
