Oh, we finally got punished for turd play and turd goaltending.
We really seemed to think that after 2 fluke wins, the hockey gods owed us another. Hell, maybe they did try, 6 posts hit behind Pickard? Needed 1 or 2 more columbus shots to be posts instead of goals unfortunately.

Safe to say Pickard could be put on waivers and would not be claimed. He's regressed back to AHL level this year.
Oh.. and it actually should have been worse than 5 goals against.. hit about 5 posts behind Pickard.. he was not seeing the puck.
And.. Bouchard's dopey play continues.. its a feature.. not a bug
Even Walman, who I thought had been a glimmer of hope for the defense last year, is looking slow and plodding.. his skating is the worrying part..
That defence is a mess.. not one of the D-men can carry the puck out.. they don't have that skill.. all of them stand still looking for stretch passes.. which usually go back the other way.
Mangiapane experiment is close to being done.
Bright spot tonight was Savoie.

Can we trade Frederic for Olivier? Not only did Freddy get his face smashed by the guy in the previous game... the whole team saw him be an offensive juggernaut tonight to go with it.
Freddy <<<<<< Olivier

I disagree on Walman. I think he's been one of the few bright spots on D so far, though I do think that either he's being coached to be more offensive, or feels like he 'should' be more offensive and it's moving him out of his comfort zone.
over his career he averages about a point every 4.5 games. Since joining San Jose in 2024 and now continuing with the Oilers, that's up to about a point every 1.5 games.
Sure, he's playing more minutes, but that's a big increase and comes with big expectations (from coaches and himself)
