Well that wasn't worth getting up in the middle of the night for........

The Avs were good, we were bad. What annoys me more is that even as they didn't let up and still went for it, we just couldn't muster an effort to lay a glove on them. Perhaps they didn't let up as we challenged the Landeskog goal, that being said it was embarrasing the effort towards the end.

The one shred of positivity I can pull is that you don't get that sort of game and score more than once every couple of years. This is team meeting time and time to start again. We've got enough time to repair the damage and you know what beating these in the play off's now would taste a little sweeter.

The coaching overhaul is looking like a big F right now, especially on D. They are getting worse as this season continues.

This team is way too easy to play against.

If only they had someone like an Evander Kane. Or a Corey Perry. But those guys don't become available very often.

I'm just glad they have Matius ekholm locked up for another 3 years! NHL dmen with serious soft tissue injuries usually get better into their late 30s right??

I'm not sure Trent Frederick is an NHLer at this point, but he's definitely comfortable out there. Zero urgency or push back.

Still the most head scratching contract ever. Didn’t understand it then. Don’t understand it now. What a nothing player. 8 more years! Yay!

I have a feeling that expecting pickard to bail out Skinner 1 or more times in another playoff run might not work this time. Might have used up all the Pickard magic last year.

Lots of crap wrong with this team but one issue I don’t think we can escape without a big change

Hilariously bad game.

I was at that 10-2 game against the Sabres that they were talking about though, so there was that fun memory to think back on.

It starts with goaltending. The two Makar goals were both wrist shots, unscreened from miles away from the net. It's the goal that Darnell Nurse dreams of scoring really - but an NHL netminder should always stop those. After that it just felt like Skinner was in full panic mode and falling apart. Pickard looked like a 30-something career backup near the end of the road in relief. That short-handed breakaway goal was played comically badly by him.

The rest of the team was pretty bad too, but when every third shot is in the goal, you're never going to win no matter how well the rest of the squad plays.

I would have liked to see a bit of an emotional response out of them. Hopefully they are carrying a lot of snark out of that game and we see them use that in the next couple. And if the goalies could approach .900 once in a while it would help too.

If we're looking for silver linings, we held the Avs PP off the board!!!

Pickard after a .933 W in his first appearance this year has 5 consecutive games where he failed to hit .900 again. Not even close really - .864 the closest.

Skinner - he had 3 out of 11 where he cracked .900.

All 4 games in Ty >.900 were wins.

There are other issues plaguing the team to be sure, but as a player having every 3rd or 4th shot go in, you have to be squeezing that stick pretty damned tight every time they so much as direct a puck at your net.

Don’t need shutouts every night. Just stop the ones that the shooter tutor can stop, plus a few here and there that they are paid millions to stop

4 whole game this year with >0.900 goaltending. Pretty impressive!

We should wait until our season is really in the toilet before trying to get a goalie IMO. That's when the affordable opportunities will present themselves.

But there really was no way to predict this. Nobody could have known goaltending might be an issue this year - not like we can expect management to have a crystal ball.

One of those things that nobody saw coming.

Corey Perry has 7 goals in 10 games.

At least they have Mangiarvidson though.

It's just so much of a better story when we come from behind though. Really, that's the Oil MO. Last year we did it regularly in games, let the first shot or two in, then get moving. This season we're doing it on a grand scale. We're going to sh#t the bed, then go flying up the rankings after Christmas.
