Nugent-Hopkins will play his 971st game in an Oiler uniform, tying him with Ryan Smyth for second all time.
If RNH can stay healthy this year he will take his place as the all team leader in Oiler games played, passing Lowe's mark of 1037 (he'll do it in game 79 if he doesn't miss a game).

If the Oilers can manage to win the Cup with him on the team, does he get his number retired? I know the Oilers generally like to only retire numbers for HOF players, but how many teams have not retired the number for their all time games played leader?
I ask that but for about 20 years the Oilers were that team, so maybe that answers my initial question.

If they have Rod Phillips up there and not RNH, it would be an awful look.
