Here we go again, the start of a new season and that lot from down south are in town. We know what we want at the end of the season and what happens in game 1 doesn't effect what happens in game 4,5 or 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals, but beating that lot at anything is a priority and we can't open up this season in the way we did last year against Vancouver.

No pressure Howard, but when the Oilers play the Flames in game 1 of a season, rookies tend to do something to get noticed offensively. Go get 'em!

Would be nice to see a bit of a statement game out of the Oilers in this one. Division/Provincial rival. Years of questionable starts to seasons. Just bury these guys.

Late watching this game but it was funny that the fans gave a loud cheer for the new goalie coach. Louder than for any other coach.

Pretty unique to create a situation when the common fan could become so aware of a goalie coach that long overstayed his welcome.

what an idiotic play by Nurse to lead to the first goal of the year. Rushes the puck when there's no reason to and tries to pull off a house league toe drag to cough it up at the blue line.

Louie trying to blame Bouch. But skinner puts his stick down to block Bouch from trying to get it. That was 100% on Skinner and a massive brain fart. Nothing about what skinner did on that play made any sense. His teammates left flabbergasted, which they are used to now I’m sure.

He just slams his stick down between Bouch at the puck. Then freezes and waits for the Calgary player to arrive then tries to throw it the opposite way from Bouch and the Calgary stick deflects it in. That was such a Skinner sequence. Guy invents new ways to screw up every other game.

As mentioned - how do you go 8 rounds and not have Mangiapane take a shot? Former team aside, Did they not see the laser in the first period? Not saying put him first, but surely before 8?

And do we get to see Ingram next game? Skinner stopped the last 10 or 11 to make the numbers look less horrendous, but I think when they scored their 3rd it was the 12th or 13th shot. So about. .750 at that point. Managed to get it up to .864 by the end.

Ingram time already.

That crap from Skinner is probably giving all the players traumatic flashbacks.

How do we not give Mangiapane a chance against his former team in the SO? Did knob forget he is on our team? Bizarre to put Bouch on the SO

Bouch and Skinner were in nonsense mode again tonight.

Bouchard in particular had one of the worst periods I've seen from any player in the second period, and then followed it up with an absurd tandem effort with Skinner for Coleman's goal.

Have to add .. Nurse was crap again.. his solitary rush up the ice and classic cough up going the other was the creation of Flames 1st goal.. he does the same bad things .. year after year.. thinks he's an offensive D-man.. and he's not.. lower level puck IQ.. he should focus on defence and positioning.. not solo rushes up the ice.. but he's 30 years old.. he's not gonna get any smarter.. he is what he shows you he is.. starting to believe the guy is un-coachable.
