No risk - Utah retaining $800K and we pay only future considerations.
We have too many goalies now though - will be interesting to see the next move.

I was wondering about that.. thought Ingram would get picked up by someone, even Oilers .. but had no cap room.. then figured the smart thing to alleviate that issue would be a trade where there is retention by Utah.. 800K is 41% retained..
Note: Apparently Ingram didn't even attend a camp so far this year.. so he's definitely heading to Bako for a while..
Utah doing Ingram a solid.. a waive, trade, and retention made him able to be picked up by other teams and give him a chance to re-start his career ..
As Adam noted having been already waived through the league Oilers can keep him in Bako..

Well played by Bowman getting the retention instead of the full cap on waivers. Hope Ingram is ready for a bounce back season. Skookum Jim Pointed out in the other thread that Ingram’s mother passing last season seemed to be why he had an off year after a couple really solid season behind a terrible Arizona lineup.

This is a really good trade - we got enough salary retention that the contract can be buried completely. It's for future considerations - so essentially nothing. He's already passed through waivers, so we can keep him in the AHL until we want to bring him up.
Only issue is that we have too many goalies now. Jonsson is still in camp and he's the best goalie prospect we've had in a while. He will need a place to play regularly. Tomkins just got demoted, but he won the Harry "Hap" Holmes Memorial Award for fewest goals against in the AHL last year. Both of those guys will need the net for some of the time, so at some point someone has to go.

Easiest thing would be cut ties with one or two tenders. Europe is nice this time of year and we need to develop more options in the pipes.

This could be really good even if it just lights a bit of a fire under Skinner and Pickard, knowing they've got a guy who's shown some ability at this level waiting in the wings if either of them messes up. Haven't really had that the last two years.

Interesting tidbit.. apparently Ingram is from the same town in Saskie as Knoblauch.. a population of 372.. as per this poster on Staples..
Quote: | Edmonton Oilerlytics @EdmOilerlytics
Connor Ingram and Kris Knoblauch both grew up in Imperial Saskatchewan which only has a population of 372 for those that are wondering.
With that population it would have made it impossible for these 2 not to have known each other for a very long time.
