Gotta take back my Hart speculation I guess. Oilers putting out the word they are not interested at all
Gregor tweet and other sources saying the same.
Jason Gregor @JasonGregor
Any report about the Oilers having interest in Carter Hart is incorrect.
Edmonton will not be approaching him, even if he is found not guilty. #NHL

Now that Dustin Schwartz's #1 student Hart appears to be a no-go, the media speculation is turning to Dustin Schwartz's #2 student Tristan Jarry.
Some Jarry stats to get everyone familiar with his Schwartz'y he is:
JFresh @JFreshHockey
Tristan Jarry played 22 games this season.
He allowed a goal on the first shot he faced 6 times
On the second shot 4 times
On the third shot 2 times
On the fourth shot 4 times
On the fifth shot 3 times
He made it to shot 6 without allowing a goal SIX TIMES in 22 games.
Jarry/Skinner would probably look a lot like Campbell/Skinner, but maybe with a little less mental illness issues. With the goalies I mean, the fan mental illness caused by our goaltending would be about the same.

I just can't imagine anyone thinks Jarry is the answer at this point. We're going into McDavid's 11th season and people think this is the goalie to go with?

I'm not sure Jarry is the answer either. I do think it's likely he's an upgrade on Pickard, but the cap hit is problematic for someone with a lot of question marks.
There's two things Jarry has working in his favour: Like Gibson, he has a past record of success, and has been playing for really bad teams in front of him. It's not inconceivable to think he could look good again with a decent team in front of him. And second, he was quite good towards the end of the season, once he was called back up from the AHL in March. In the 14 games he started, he was over .900 in 9 of them, had 2 shutouts, had 5 games where he allowed 2 goals or less, and was pulled twice.
Again, not saying he is the answer, especially at his price point, but I'm not sure there are a ton of better options. Maybe grabbing one of the Bruins trio of goalies.
