2 Cups

The only other team that would take a run at Hart would be Philly, who also seems to be able to ignore checkered pasts.

Surprised no one's mentioned it so far, but Dustin Schwartz isn't being re-inked.

Saw Gregor calling for an expanded goaltending department in the org. Maybe Schwartz still has a chance to fail upwards like Lowe :) His application is in for "Director of Goalie Development"

Gregor doesn't say anything worthwhile now. He worked his way into the in crowd and created his little media empire, which he should be proud of, but he's just not a contributor to the discourse. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go off on a 7 minute argument with myself against a completely made up point of view.

Get a good goalie coach. Simple as.

Sadly it is true. Gregs has shifted his opinion pieces in favour of the the meal ticket that supports his station. I get it, it's understandable why you would do that. It's for survival. However I did appreciate the discourse he generally used to bring. Lowetide is about the only person that provides real, unbiased opinion. He's old and made his hay, so he can be a little bit of a mixer. I'm not saying Lowetide doesn't speak at all slanted sometimes but he provides context and reasoning behind his points.

Oh and IMHO Dustin Schwartz wasn't the entire problem... however it's good he's moved on

Yeah, he was just a part of the problem. Which leads to the sadder part of all this. It may be that the Schwartz card is being used now as an excuse to do nothing with our actual goalies. Org may try to sell that Skinner will be better with a new goalie coach, so this gives a 1-2 year buffer to still not be serious about getting a true #1 goalie. I guess the only person they care that they convince right now is McDavid.

I don't think Skinner HAS to go, but it can't be him and Pickard again. They need to have someone else who might possibly challenge for the starter's role, even if they land back on Skinner.

And given they just signed another 31-year old AHL keeper, I really hope that Pickard isn't platooning in the AHL either. Would mean there's no development spot down there at all.

IMO you need a guy that you are pretty close to certain could be the starter. I would not expect right now that Skinner can be a starter all the way to a Stanley cup. Guy lost his net 2 times this playoffs, once the year before. It's a never ending headache and a huge drag on the coach and players.

What do I think the Oilers plan is? It's still Skinner #1, and prayers a new coach coach can fix him. Backup is going to either be Hart if he's innocent, or whatever guy looks decent that we can get dirt cheap.

Cough cough not guilty cough.

Not getting convicted never means you're found innocent. Just not guilty.

I wish I knew that that wasn't the plan...but I don't have huge faith here.

Cough. Innocence can't be proven.

The purpose of a hockey team is to play hockey. It's foolish to demand good hockey players who meet your arbitrary bar for moral behavior.

Just going by "innocent until proven guilty" :) Like OJ, the first time around at least.

Really though, this damn team needs to win a cup with McDavid. I'm all in on the "do whatever it takes" train. I will forget getting Hart or Bowman. I would never forget this team being the first ever to fumble a generational talent and never win a cup.

No Cups

Maybe this entire thread has covid now thanks to all the coughing!!! lol you guys..

FWIW, you don't throw Skinner away, there is too much of a talent there to waste it away and be flippant because he sometimes lack focus, he's organically grown within the organization. To me, it's really the maturity of the player that is being questioned, you know, his focus. When the lights are bright in the finals, can Skinner get us over the top? Well, right now, no.

He's led us to the finals with Picks allowing him to reset.

What Skinner needs now is someone to fill in that gap of focus and building on hard knocks reality of being a exceptionally good goaltender in the NHL. Can Carter "I'm not guilty but I'm not completely innocent" Hart help him? Maybe.

Right now, seeing our beloved team being at the final stage twice in a row unable to get it done must burn at these guys especially McD. So I will forgive whatever I need to in order to cross the finish line. Morals are set aside in the pursuit of greatness. Look no further than Hart, Kane, Kassian, and even beyond hockey.. [B}Trump[/B} for example.

*Sorry MJ... I stirred the pot a little too much there lollol

The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.

Generally Disappointed.

5 Cups

From Gregor

Quote:

Pelletier joins Gulutzan in Dallas.

Schwartz not re-signed.

I’m hearing unlikely Coffey returns to bench.

Stuart will be retained.

So two new assistants, a goalie coach and a skating/skills coach. Knoblauch is doing interviews now.

Goalie coach short list has Rodrigue and Aubrey.

Hope its not Rodrigue.. he was goalie coach in Bako and didn't seem to do much.. even with his own kid

McDAVID! Oh YEAH Baby!! (Thank you Lord!)
