I really hope Skinners are done (especially the G). That was a non-professional effort on that last goal.

He’s roasted. At best he’ll be a starter for a bottom five team. Two SCF playoff runs and couldn’t carry it. No hate on him, thank team management for not addressing a gaping hole we knew already existed.

Bobrovsky vs Skinner is a pretty tough match up to overcome.

McDrai have been outscored 5-1 during the series and were on the ice for both goals tonight. It's easy and lazy to play them together when desperate, but this series it's been a disaster

Well, it's been a slice. Thanks for the season, team.
Honestly, never thought these guys had the right mix to make it work... so sort of surprised that they made it this far. Super up and down season, however that seems to be the McDraiBouchDarnell MO. All the drama, all the difficulty that they can add... they do.
Hope this isn't an indication that we're in Joe Thornton territory for our stars, but it's starting to feel that way. They just can't play D well enough or commit to a game plan enough, to see something through.
Anyways, see you next year.

Look at who is around them.
Their top winger in the scf is Corey Perry. In 2025.
Their goalie is Stu Skinner.
Their team pays Darnell Nurse 9.25 M.
The problem really isn't anything to do with 97/29
I think it was very different for Thornton but you are probably right - that's the narrative until they win.

Still shouldn't mean we can't score. It's crazy 100 mins of hockey nearly and 2 goals to show. This is just flat out embarrassing

Skinner (Jeff) had a good game but that puck should have been out of the zone. Can't imagine he will play much in his last period as an Oiler.

The fat lady is starting to sing.
I should call it quits and try and get some sleep, but will stick with it till the end in some stupid lack of sleep hope that we can mount another comeback.

We are a power play team. You can’t win the Cup with power plays.
And goodbye Skinner. We knew we needed more at goalie last SCF to make up for what we got, and here we are again depending on Skinner.
We also need new leadership. Desperately. Twice this team has gone down whimpering.

Haven't posted for a while. Joined this group before the 2006 run. I'm just really defeated with this team. The last 2 cup loses at least we showed some heart. Besides maybe, maybe game one we have been second best. I have to look at management and just how poorly this team has been run since 2006. Bad contracts bad trades. When was the last time Edmonton had a goalie, a decent defence. We have next to zero prospects an old team, buyout after buyout, bad contract after bad contract. Bad trade after bad trade and made fools last summer. I think I have accepted I will never see another cup in Edmonton and this will be the last trip to the finals. What would you do if you were McDavid?

Bowman inherited a killer team with the Hawks. He's out of his element trying to build one.
We walked into another SCF with the same goalie that we couldn't depend on last SCF we made it to. There's other issues, but that was one first thing I expected to be improved.

Welp, got back home and didn't know what the score was. Glad I didn't miss anything.
Guess we'll see what the off-season has in store. I'd say it's been fun, but it wasn't compared to last season December onward.

Outclassed
This is still a case of years of mismanagement vs years of great management. We are carrying tens of millions of useless on this roster, plus buyouts. Florida is getting max value for their cap plus the extra LTIR spending. Florida knows which players to shadow and which players on our team are ghosts 5v5 and we are loaded with ghosts. Florida has multiple lines where all 3 forwards can make a play and score goals. We have McDrai and guys that look like they barely belong.
Once again all playoffs Knob also had to waste endless time trying to figure out how to not let nurse be a liability. What a joke having to carry that guy around is at 9.25M. I really hope Bowman has some miracle idea to convince Nurse to move on.

Knobs is most certainly getting the axe. But JJ and Bowman should be gone first. We walked from one SCF to the next SCF with the exact same glaring problems expecting a better result.

Too many excuses available to JJ and Bowman for this season.
JJ had no GM, he was just trying his best to fill in. Bowman inherited a tough situation.
^^^ are the excuses, not me actually trying to defend them :)
Knob may stick but should be a wipe out of the rest of the coaching staff. Getting to the finals 2 years in a row in your first NHL HC gig is pretty good. But there was clearly some ppl in this staff that were completely out of ideas.
