Why are people always saying this though? It's never Skinner's fault.
The guy at the other end does not let in every single high danger chance. He stops a crap ton of them on top of the ones he is expected to stop.
Pickard came in and stopped the ones he was expected to stop, and several high danger ones on top of that.
Skinner? I will admit he has not let in too many stinkers lately, but you just feel like any little breakdown, he's not bailing us out. We're fishing pucks out of the net.
Maybe the team plays differently in front of him. Maybe they don't. At the end of the day, the objective is to score more than the other team, and I believe Pickard gives us a much better chance to do that.

It's so wild the narrative around this guy - even today all the media are starting their stories with this...like it's in the small print of their job description that they have to carry water for this guy.
Like if you have to constantly find yourself defending him and rationalising why he really isn't as bad as it seems then maybe theres a reason for that.
I was ecstatic to see him play the way he did in the middle stretch of this run but he is way too inconsistent and when he is off he is off you just know (and the team knows) that he's going to let in a goal or two at the worst possible time. We've seen it enough times that we should know by now.
Yesterday was the best possible outcome. Oilers win and Skinner will in all likelyhood need to worry about opening the bench doors the rest of the way.
