I feel like I’ve run 20 km. Damnit, this is exhausting to watch….

BIG break...
...nice to see one finally go our way.
This has to be crushing for FLA. ...back home to a crazy crowd.
...this time, it's for real (isn't it?).

There is zero chance we see Skinner again unless Pickard gets injured. Or at least there should be zero chance.
Of all the opinions and takes I’ve had tonight, there is none that I am more certain of than this one: not a snowflake’s chance in hell we win that game with Skinner in net. None.
What a brilliant outing by Pickard.

I really liked JEFF Skinner’s game tonight. Brown is looking like he is getting his feet back. Frederic seemed to have had a few noticeable shifts.
Don’t want to crap on him too much, but Ekholm I didn’t think was great.
And why did Stecher not play? Benched or hurt?

Hasn't he had some concussion issues? I think that stick to the head that the refs completely missed after calling 2 high sticks on us might have done him in. Hope he is OK.

Well - a guaranteed game 6 and I’ll be in Paris…2AM start time with all day meetings the day before and after. That should be fun! And should there be a game 7, I will be on a plane during the game.

A tip from someone who lives that time zone hell all the time, get to bed any time from around 6.30 to 8pm, it's far from ideal but some sleep is better than none.
Take me home, country road

WOW!!!!! this team, the hope, the highs and lows it brings us. I wouldn't miss it for a minute
Late home from work, late to bed and miss the first 15 minutes of the first, get up and see goals 2 & 3 go in. Didn't quit on them, that fight back and then the OT goal is a big a goal as anything and a fantastic way to exocise the ghosts of game 2 and 3.

Full details:
Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
#Oilers become the first team in Stanley Cup Final history to win a game when trailing 3-0 after the first period.
Teams with that lead were 37-0.
They’re now 37-1.
Edmonton needed OT to get it done, but Leon Draisaitl played hero again to send SCF back to ‘Berta all square.

Just realized we did win by trying to pass it into the net. It's a sign. McDavid arrives for real in game 5.

Drai got the record for OT goals in a playoff year with 4. Beating Perry’s 3. Still time to catch up Perry :)

I’d rather not. I would be good with a couple of 10-1 drubbings. No need for any more theatrics.

If Pickard wins the next two to get to 9-0 in the playoffs, surely Conn Smythe? :D
Someone out there has a bet that will give them generational wealth on that, haha

That's an insane playoff run. 4 Overtime goals and the primary assist on the other one. 32 points and counting for the 2025 Conn Smyth winner Leon Draisaitl.
Pickard with ice in his veins.

Most everyone figured McDavid had the Conn Smythe wrapped up coming into the finals, but Draisaitl has certainly closed that gap.
Should the Panthers win, I suppose Bennett should get some consideration. Goals leader, a menace throughout the playoffs. Arguably their most impactful player. Bobrovsky has been quite good again.
Like someone said though - WHAT IF Pickard wins the next 2 and finishes 9-0? He completely bailed us out of the first round. And if he were to come back in in the finals and seal the deal? I wouldn't have a problem with it.
Assuming fairly similar offensive contributions from McDavid and Draisaitl the next 2-3 games, they could split some votes and Pickard could swoop in for the win.

Yeah I'm assuming the Oilers win here - if Florida does it has to be Bennett. Ugh. Better not happen.
I guess anything is possible. If 97 get's 10 points in the next couple of games or something then maybe. But Leon has the same number of points as 97 and 11 goals compared to 6. And 4 - let me repeat that - 4 overtime goals in the playoffs including 2 in the finals. That has never happened before and probably never will again. Things can change but right now it isn't close.
Ultimately though who cares. As long as it's an Oiler.

I need to take up meditation or yoga or something after this run. Gosh this team loves adversity.
Home ice advantage is ours again and that’s huge.

If I can detract for a minute... Stu wasn't the problem. The team was.
Picks got in and battled, true, loved it - but the team found their legs in the 2nd and 3rd.
The #Oilers were shells of themselves down 3 goals and playing like a tire fire.
Perry speaks up in the 2nd and the team flicks the switch, because like all of you it was over, I turned off the game until I heard Picks was in.
I didn't watch the OT I was too scared that I wouldn't be able to sleep. Then my little one shrieked... (they didn't turn off their iPad like I told them to). We celebrated and it was a good moment for us.
Late night but oh so good.

Why are people always saying this though? It's never Skinner's fault.
The guy at the other end does not let in every single high danger chance. He stops a crap ton of them on top of the ones he is expected to stop.
Pickard came in and stopped the ones he was expected to stop, and several high danger ones on top of that.
Skinner? I will admit he has not let in too many stinkers lately, but you just feel like any little breakdown, he's not bailing us out. We're fishing pucks out of the net.
Maybe the team plays differently in front of him. Maybe they don't. At the end of the day, the objective is to score more than the other team, and I believe Pickard gives us a much better chance to do that.

What we could say certainly about last nights game is that Knoblauch switched his netminders for an effect on the rest of the team, in much the same way the experts thought that De Boer had with Otter, but unlike the Stars we responded and came back and won the game.
Stu made some saves and to be fair none of the goals were down right down to him, if anything we perhaps should be wondering where Pickard was on the 4th goal, easily the worse of the 4 we let in. However, he saved us in OT and we won the game that's forgotten about.

LOL - well there's a hot take if I've seen one. You're faulting Pickard on that? Wow.
He's facing down playoff goal leader Bennett, Tkachuk, and a 57 goal scorer in Reinhart while McDavid and Draisaitl are making dinner plans along the boards and Janmark is doing a pirouette to his right. He did what he could facing an outnumbered situation and Reinhart made a hell of a shot to get that in.
If that's the worst goal he lets in the rest of the way, I like our chances.

Interesting to me that Stecher only got 4 mins and change of ice time. Yeah he got burned on the 3-0 goal (after being high sticked), but I thought he looked good in the minutes he was playing. Guess Knob saw something different though as he commented after the game that Stecher was healthy and it was a coaches decision to sit him)

I'd attribute that to Coffey, from what I have learned Knobs let Paul figure out that side of things.
