Dear god NHL scheduling sucks. Game 4 is tonight and game 2 was 6 days ago. No momentum to the series.

Apparently Knob mentioned there will be one line-up change for game 4. Stecher in for Klingberg please!
I'd also like to see Jeff Skinner in for Frederic, but that's not gonna happen.

Not the first person in the thread, made a decision to change that after the last two games. Just need a win, share a split and we'll be down to a best of 3.
Last year they hyped up the 3 day break between games after travel, so what do they do? Stick a 3 day break in between games at the same venue, really? Be workman like, don't need to be flashy, don't need to run up a basketball score, just win..
The stench of MUST can be noticed by all Oilers fans around the world.

Whoever wins this game will win the series. Panthers win they have a massive lead. Oilers win and they overcame the hardest point of the entire series and everyone else will be a cakewalk.
Oil MUST win tonight.

This, so much this.
The heavy pit in my stomach is making me nauseous. Gregor was laughing on the radio the other day wondering why people are physically tied to the game on top of their emotion. He's like, "Why? It's nothing you can do to influence the game". He's right but still my hope springs eternal and to see them this close again to potentially piss it all away just kills my spirit. Just something I cheer for has to win, right?
The Oilers have never been so close a second year in a row since i was a fan, and I feel the tense grip of watching the game is almost too much for my being.
Look at me hand wring lol. There is absolutely nothing I can do to affect the outcome, All I can do is just watch and cheer the highs and lament the lows.
Oilers must must must win. There is no room to squander, take the lead and keep it.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

Gregor has some pretty terrible takes at times... that would be one of them. Why wouldn't you feel anxious about the game? You're a fan, your team is so close, it has a juggernaut opposing them, and you want the best but fear the worst. That's what being a fan is.
If you were just blase about the whole thing, there is no passion behind it. We need that energy and how many of us have been fans through dreadful days? They are so close... and we want it for the team, and for us.

It makes sense for Gregor. His only passion is finding a way to argue against what most people think, and talking really loud with his shrill voice and digging in as hard as he can.
Another great topic for him to take on. Making fun of fans feeling they have a strong emotional stake in a team they have been following, possibly for decades, that is within 3 games of a championship.
Well done Mr. Gregor.
That said, reminding yourself you have zero impact on the team and none of the bad that happens is your fault is a good coping mechanism to move on. Endless mismanagement history to remember and talk about. But, let's all hope we don't have to go there :)

He's the most un-listenable of the local Oiler pundits for me.. he's openly condescending with most fans that don't agree with his own particular opinions.. which gets pretty tiring.

Stecher in is great. J. Skinner getting a chance is nice to see too. Need SOMETHING from the depth lines in this series.
And please stop starting every game with a stupid penalty Kane.

I'd have taken Frederic out rather than Arvidsson, since we're lacking the scoring touch this series, but not a bad line-up. Glad to see Klingberg sit. Hopefully Stecher can calm Nurse's game down.

Frederic crosschecking Bennett in the back probably kept him in the lineup. Wish he would do something else useful though.

It’s the correct line up if we finish the game with these lines and pairs still somewhat intact.

People really need to stop with this "taking" penalties thing. He was given penalties.
He made two plays that the refs decided to call because he's Evander Kane.
Both of those plays could just as easily not been called (see Bennett, Sam for a million examples).
And the idea that if they just play disciplined they won't get penalties is just something talking heads say on tv. It has nothing to do with reality. If there are no actual penalties the refs will make them up as needed. We know this.
Both teams will get roughly the same amount of penalties tonight. So you might as well make them count. That's the only issue I have with Kane. Next time actually give him a real cross check.
They are both going to get power plays (regardless of how they play) so they need to score on theirs and kill Florida's.

Kane took a dumb high stick penalty early in both games 2 and 3. That’s on him if he can’t play physical without getting his stick up around a players face. That has to stop. The cross check penalty was weak for sure but that is another play that is useless to him and the team. Stick to actual hits and getting in players faces. Lame stick plays that do zero damage aside from drawing the refs attention will get us nowhere.
How Kane played is a microcosm of the team. Trying to be physical but doing it in a very immature way. Florida guys just put their heads down and nail you hard and grab pucks and skate away. All the extra stuff is after whistles and trying to draw the immaturity in our players out with sneaky little extra chops or heavy leans into the goalie, hands in faces, etc… which seems to easily set us off into the danger zone of going over the edge to take a penalty.

No that's on the refs that decided to call those plays and ignore countless others. And then make up calls to ensure it's about the same every night. Again and again. Players don't take penalties they are given them. Because what is and isn't a penalty has almost nothing to do with the rule book. There are dozens of plays every night that should be called but aren't and vice versa.
Maybe you're right. Assuming the oilers play disciplined tonight and don't "take any penalties" then they shouldn't be given any. Let's see..

Maybe just the state of our depth with Hyman out. Perry might be out of gas for a while after trying to keep up with McDavid 5v5.

I think that's the problem with any winger with McDavid.. even Leon.. McD's skating is so efficient he can last twice the shift time as most of his wingers.. then they get gassed.. scoring chances decrease.. and more problems happen defensively.. Maybe rotate his wingers.. Perry/Brown/Podz .. etc.. they can go 110% and then recover for a couple shifts.. ?

It's crazy that it's that kind of play, or the miraculous assist from McDavid to Drai in the next game, that is needed to score on the Panthers in this series. That team is so committed to defense, it's absurd. Sure, the Oilers scored a bunch of goals in Game 1 & 2, but the Cats figured them out in G3. The Oilers need to find something different, another angle, that they can throw at Florida.
Come on lads... get it done. Please, win this one.

I'm nauseous since this morning as well. Gregor can't understand that?!
Think back to where you watched the 8-1 beatdown in Game 4 last year. Where did you watch it? What did you wear? Who were you with? Duplicate that.
I'm calling a Trent Frederic point tonight. And for the record, I would have taken him out of the lineup over Arvi as well.
