Prince Albert, Prince George, Swift Current...I don't know how those places will compete when players aren't tethered to them. They'll need to invest in facilities at bare minimum. I'd go with the same round robin.. then top 2 teams play best of 3.. first 2 games being back to back. Alternately, if the media and leagues were more agile and flexible.. and able to organize quick enough.. they could just have the league champ of the host league be the host city.. get rid of the pre-announced host team thing.. fewer games and then fit in a best of 3 final. Home and away two games series with all three teams. 4 games each, six total. If a team doesn't go 4-0, the top two teams face off in a final game, neutral site wherever the cup is being held between games 1 and 2. I like that idea.. let the media fly around.. or have regional broadcast teams.. This way each home fan base.. the ones that supported the CHL team locally their entire franchise history.. get a chance to watch their own team in the memorial cup without having to spend thousands of dollars in plane fare.. hotels.. meals.. and tickets to watch them live. It also gets rid of the "host team" concept.. which includes a team that doesn't deserve to be there.. and haven't earned their entry to the competition. Each home game will still sell out.. which is better than what happens currently where the non-local teams have a hard time selling tickets to locals. Do it!

You know who I want to listen to call the biggest game in Saskatoon Blades history? The Saskatoon Blades play by play guy. it's junior hockey, have some fun with it.

The host city concept is so out of touch now. The idea that the 18-44 Kelowna Rockets are guaranteed a spot in next year's Memorial Cup is dumb. I'd much rather see home fans in any town losing their minds because their team just won the cup.
