Leon, what were you thinking?? That was going away from the net, buzzer would have gone and we'd be waiting for OT.....

His head was too far up his ass to see that.

I think it's pretty hard to blame Leon looking back at this. As the player, you're instinct is to try to get your stick on it, especially since the puck was already passed Skinner. No way he could have thought through, or realized in that split second that the puck was going wide.
It sucks.

Exactly. Quite the take to blame the forward trying to back check and actually cover the crease when the goalie is for some reason flopping around in the corner of the rink and the 9m defenseman is taking a nap between the hash marks.

Agree, Skinner selling out is what makes Drai feel the need to dash in and play goalie. It's a ridiculous situation that was created. But it's very typical with this goalie who inspires zero confidence in his players and has everyone playing scared.
Not surprisingly lots of media have been going to bat for Skinner with their moustache envy.

I think Nurse selling out makes Skinner leave the net. With 2 seconds left in the game, I don't mind what Skinner did. No reason to risk a puck going in 7-hole while he's trying to move side to side slowly.

I think Skinner could have just played goalie there, but for sure there was at least 4 bad things happening there. Kulak behind the net just needed to get his stick on the puck instead of going for a hit. Skinner manages to chip the pass from behind the net away from his 2 teammates in front, zero awareness by Skinner of where anyone is in front of his net, and pretty lazy positioning by McDavid and Nurse where at least 1 guy should have been stopped in the slot area (probably McDavid). McDavid and Nurse both look like total idiots going down for a shot that doesn't happen. Skinner panics and comes flying out (Reilly could have had the option to stake around Skinner and put it in because of how aggressive Skinner is, but maybe would have taken an extra half second, but Skinner doesn't know the exact time remaining) and Drai panics to play goalie and puts it in.
This is again us having our offensive guys that kinda suck defensively out late in a game, right after the emotional high of tying the game up, and they end up being pylons or worse for a late GWG against.

so many F-ups on that play.. Leon can't check the guy at center ice.. Nurse lets the guy walk in along the boards behind the net.. Stu in no mans land.. then Leon puts it in his own net.. ).04
Leon was the goat on the 1st goal as well.. he was a mess tonight.
Pickard not there to bail them out of their usual errors.
Stu was below average.

I'm definitely in the minority and thought that Skinner wasn't so bad, yes he did make that horrible play in the end but overall I thought he did well, especially that paddle save on the wrap around attempt.
Maybe it's because I got to believe he's a good goalie for the team to win. I just can't face the idea of the Oilers going out in the second round since Pickard is injured.
The team needs to have a game 2 performance and overwhelm the team or it's the Knights doing the reverse LA on the Oilers.
Please let me be wrong.. I certainly know absolutely nothing about hockey because ever call I have made on the successes and failures of this team have been wrong. I just don't want to be a broken clock where I'm right at least once a day.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

The silver lining is that Hill has sucked, so it's all still right there for the taking. These guys need to get over their Skinner PTSD for the rest of the series and just keep pushing and creating chances. Expect better from these guys than how they sagged after the first stinky goal against last night, if they have any real aspirations to win it all. Also, Pickard could be ready to go again if we get through this series, it's not like he's done.
