Just. Must. Win.
The rains of Must fell on YEG overnight while they threaten to fall throughout the day. Along with the rains of Must come a refreshening of life, trees and grass flourish with the Musty precipitation. The Oilers Must harness the rains to breath fresh air into their game as they’ve looked to be the second best the past two games. The rains of Must…

Outside of the first 10 mins in game 3 our boys haven't looked sharp at all the past two games. Need to figure it out, and quickly. Hopefully Stone is out for this one.
I know Pickard is out, but is there any word on his injury? Didn't look all that bad when it happened, so I was surprised to hear that he's out tonight as well.

Realizing last game was almost a repeat of how our Canucks series started last year. 2 goals early lead looking great, then a clown show on defense and in net begins and just total sabotage of our game and the start of the series.
At least we started with a 2 game buffer in our 2nd round this year before the usual suspects went swimming and twerking. Need a a great game out of all our skaters tonight.

No choice, we have to finish this series with Stu. Need our best hockey of the year for at least 2 of the next 4 games.

Where are those 3-4 day breaks between games when you need them...kinda like when your first flight is delayed, there is a 100% chance of your connection leaving on time.
I don't recall ever feeling such gloom being up 2-1 in a series.
Let's just hope Skinner can avoid throwing it away. Best shot would be to play 3 periods like the 2nd period in game 1. Hold them to 1 shot per period, and we should be able to squeak out a 3-2 win.

By now we know what we are going to get from Skinner, but it would be nice to see an upturn in performance from Leon.... Perhaps Corey can show him which net he's supposed to be scoring in!!

Gregor reporting it looks like Stetcher in for Emberson.. and Kapanen in for Arvidsson.
Agree with both.. can probably give Stetcher more minutes than Emberson's 7 to 9 minutes.. and Kapanen probably has the better speed.. he'll be playing 4th line which suits him better than with Arvidsson on it, which was where Arvidsson was playing last game.. not like Arvidsson was producing offence.

Why not Jeff Skinner? 3rd best pts/60 after McDavid and Draisaitl. I have no illusions we will would win the Conn Smythe, but he can still put the puck in the net.

I guess scoring isn't seen as the problem right now and they're looking for anyone who might be able to keep the puck out of the net? Just a guess.

I'd argue since we'll need 5 or 6, might not be a bad guy to help chip in.

I think the reasoning is that the spot that Kapanen takes is on the 4th line.. which is not J. Skinner's forte.. also Kapanen can take a shift on PK? .. can't remember if he's on PK duty..

Huge game. The difference between being up 3-1 and series tied obviously is huge. Let's hope they come out on fire and determined.

Good news with Stecher. If Knob trusts him to play more than the 7 minutes we been giving Emberson, maybe we can have more consistent D pairs.
Emberson played a total of 16 minutes 5v5 in the series. Just over 5 minutes per game. Walman 2nd least 5v5 ice time with 54:28 in the series. Maybe we had the "don't mess with a winning lineup" thing going, but still kinda crazy to keep someone you trust so little as one of your 6 D.

I'm nervous about this one. Never feel confident when Stu is in net, and Nurse has been getting carved this series.
Like Mike I'd also prefer to have Skinner in over Kapanen. I'd put him in Nuge's spot on PP1. At least he's a legitimate scoring threat from there, unlike Nuge, who the opposition doesn't even bother respecting his shot. Nuge does have that dangerous shot though, which is what infuriates me about him constantly not using it.
Hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. At least Drai can't be worse this game, right?

Oilers played poorly after the second goal and showed little determination or urgency. Not that Skinner played excellent but the team in front of him hung him out to dry. The last goal would have gone wide if Draisaitl would have left it alone. I expect much better from Draisaitl and McDavid going forward. Depth scoring has been pretty good and now the Oilers need their superstars playing like superstars. I would love to see to see the Oilers lay down a good ol' fashioned Molly whopping to Vegas tonight and put the series to bed in game 5.
Regardless Go Oil Go!!!
